Surprised at the price, hopefully they will become more affordable on the whole
There are so many e-bikes, it's difficult to know what you want.
If you de-restrict the bike it does become illegal.

36v 10ah, not really a bike for my area S Wales, if you're planning to commute between towns on a 30 to 40 mile round trip.
Since you're going to need max assist for the valleys
Better off with as much watt hours as you can get, so can actually take advantage of having a motor.
The ebikes appear to be split into 2 groups;
massively expensive known brands which are stocked by bike shops and
much cheaper unknown brands which are available by mail order only.

Only time will tell how much back-up there is for the mail order bikes when something eventually goes wrong. Bike shop personnel that I have spoken to have been quite blunt, "we would not touch anything on them apart from the branded parts" ie gears and brakes.
