Hey guys, I bought this at a yard sale for $20. Everything works perfectly. Some guy saw me buy it and offered me $100 for it, and he was very hesitant to buy it from me. He even gave me his number if I change my mind. Should I have taken the offer? Also, I don’t know a lot about bikes, so yeah. Also rode it yesterday for like 2 hrs and had no issues. Any info I can get on the bike not sure if everything is original

Also if you guys want more pictures let me know.
I like it. Nice score. I wouldn’t have sold it right away either. If you get bored of it sell it later. Seems like a cool bike.
It looks very close to original to me, except probably the tires and the grips. Mine had a different rear derailleur, and different shifters, but that may have been aftermarket stuff on my bike.
IMHO $100 would be very low to sell it. The pedals alone go for that on ebay all the time.
Here’s a link to the catalog page from ’85.

I can give you 21$ 😉
That’s very nice! But probably needs a full rebuild, like servicing all bearings (headset, bottom bracket, hubs). Otherwise, looks like an all original survivor.
This is a 1985 puegeot canyon express, you can find the catalog online with a quick google search. It was their top of the line mountain bike at the time, spec’d with awesome vintage Japanese parts (nitto, suntour, tange, araya). This bike was made in Japan at the Araya factory, as indicated by the serial number. High quality Ishiwata double butted chromoly tubing. I love the long chain stays, very similar riding experience to some of the rivendell mtb models. I honestly think these are some of the most underrated and undervalued vintage mountain bikes on the market.
Bike is rad as fuck easily one of the coolest vintage mtbs and worth a good amount in this condition. Absolutely amazing bike dude
