I’m currently without a Gravel Bike (I have built up a really light XC hardtail to do that stuff on)
I was looking back at the ones I have owned.
-
Whyte Friston 1x Apex
-
Mk1 Specialized Diverge
-
Cannondale Slate
-
Cotic Escapade
-
Santa Cruz Stigmata
-
Mk1 Trek Checkpoint
They were all great. The Slate I loved the most because of how cool and out there it was , the Cotic looked beautiful with its skinny tubes.
The Stigmata was a beautiful frame and fork with shitty build kit
The Diverge was the bike I did the 310km Welsh Dragon Ride on. So we had some fond memories together.

The Cotic is gorgeous. Must be a steel frame those tubes are so skinny
I am considering both the Stigmata and the Escapade
Boy, do you get around
and the winner is?
Why you swap so often?
How much has that cost you in depreciation?
I think you’re ready for a titanium forever bike to settle down with and start a family
This comfort me a little bit, on my 3rd gravel bike in about a year. Tried alu, carbon and now steel maybe I’ll get my hands on a Ti bike next.
What’s the time frame for your collection?
Which one did you marry?
The Slate was incredibly ahead of its time.
Loved that bike and no one understood it. Such a fun bike.
What is a Mk1 Trek checkpoint ? I ask as my recent purchase, a floor model 2019 checkpoint with ultegra, is a dead on match for the last bicycle on this really fricken impressive list of bicycles. Mine is Olaf, aka “The Dark Gruffalow”. Next in line to my Bianchi as my favorite bicycle ever. It should be noted I now ride the Gruffalow 9 times out of 10 on every ride. Olaf is so comfortable.
