Wrexham AFC are pushing ahead with the massive redevelopment of the Racecourse Ground, with the new 7,500-seater Kop stand set to transform the stadium. But CEO Michael Williamson has revealed even bigger ambitions — with capacity targets of 28,000–32,000 seats on the current footprint. Could this historic ground really expand into one of the biggest stadiums outside the Premier League?
In this video we take a closer look at the Kop stand construction, the future of the Wrexham Lager Stand, possible redevelopment of the Tech End, and how infrastructure like Crispin Lane, the railway station bridge, and the new concourse will reshape matchday at the world’s oldest international stadium.
From sell-out crowds and soaring season ticket demand, to the question of whether Wrexham can sustain a 30k capacity in the Championship and beyond — this is the full story of what comes next for Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s Wrexham AFC.

🤔Wrexham AFC management and city council can't even figure out a viable solution to event day parking right now. Team management can't seem to finalize a deal to take control of the student dorms and the land it is sitting on with the University. How badly are they going to handle future issues of pedestrian bridges or further stadium expansion, or the noise generated by live concert events? Sorry both current team management and city council need a giant boot to the backside and demands they smarten up. In my opinion.
25 – 28k stadium capacity would be ideal in my opinion.
Keep up the good work.
Up the Worldwide Reds!
30,000 seats plus infield makes it attractive for bigger name concerts etc. They are going to have to drive more revenue to pay for this level.
Last time we were in the second tier we used to get 20k so with away fans and Premiership football then 30k-35k would seem sensible to future proof the club. Let’s been ambitious and go for a great stadium which can be used for all year events within north wales.
For a Premier League club I'd want 32,000. Smaller capacity grounds bring in less match-day revenue.
The new announcer is great!!
Expanding the Race Course to 30K is really about the limit without bulldozing and starting from scratch. Being in the Premier pretty much requires 30K as a minimum given the costs for talent — you're not paying for top talent with a 15K stadium. But, if they do raise the number to 30K it will be harder to justify a new stadium. So, maybe look towards upping the number to 25K max but then have plans for a 50K new stadium like Bramley Moore. But, spending however many tens of millions to upgrade the Race Course it will be harder to justify the half billion cost of a more modest 50K seater. Chicken and egg…
I admire your integrity and maturity in maintaining the positive and supporting content.
BELIEVE!
Is this whole thing AI now?
People complaining about 7500 more seats.. they would die if they went to 30k
All these new plans sound exciting but as u said will need the team to keep winning and getting to premier league in 1-5 years… A lot of pressure for everyone involved…. Just wondering if there has been a rise in new houses / accommodation being built in Wrexham since the take over? Or are the new stadium and town infrastructure being built for visitors?
Great informative video and a very nice tone to the ladies voice 👌👏👏👏
Thanks Tom!
Interesting question. The club's worldwide footprint will continue to grow as long as the documentary is produced and they continue to have success on the pitch. Neither is guaranteed. I think mid 20s is probably a good number to shoot for at this point, but prepare for something bigger. 3 straight promotions has come as a bit of a surprise, so long term preparation, not just wishful thinking, is a little behind. My belief is that this is better though. There are a lot of examples just in the UK of stadiums being built new or expanded for fans that never showed up. You certainly don't want that. The tortoise has to win the race once in a while.
Regardless of the decision, it will take years for a big expansion to happen. So lots of discussions and debates will ensue between now and then. That's the fun part 😊
Have a great day Tom!

It is great to hear what the next steps are
Tom… your voice change sounds Lovely!!! Or Dad's. Whichever !!
As capacity grows a solution for parking becomes a priority to avoid conflict with local residents.
46,000
La ampliación tiene que ser muy bien planeada para que el crecimiento en la pirámide del fútbol inglés esté alineado.
Personaly i think 32.000 to max 40.000. I think Juventus made smaller new modern stadium because they believe is better to be always sold out.
Great stuff! Wrexham’s hinterland stretches across North Wales. A much bigger ground capacity would enable coaches from Ffestiniog, Holyhead, et al, to serve the wider fanbase, not to mention allowing a far larger overseas allocation. I’ve twice made the pilgrimage from Seattle, and will hopefully visit Wrexham many more times, especially when there’s a 30,000 seater awaiting me and my peeps. And then, there’s the eventual relocation of those university apartments!!! 50,000 anyone?
42K is what I would say would make them sustainably able to remain within the championship along with making the town a staple footy wise in the E.F.L. on our way through to the E.P.L.
Putting in a planning application for an extra 2,250 seats on the Kop isca master stroke. It took Wrexham council ages to grant the initial building. With the 2026 UEFA championships as hosts, what better way to get everything done in one stroke and wake up these trainer corpses at the council to operate. Press 1 if you want to wake up. Press 2 and so on
