Hi!
I have a 2023 Marin Alpine trail XR size large. I love the bike but I've tried mullet bikes a few times and prefer how they ride. I'm also finding I'm buzzing my arse on the tire when getting low over drops and steep shoots (that's probably bad technique).

My main worry mulleting it is how low the bottom bracket will be. I've worked out it to be around 330mm in a mullet setup. My solution to increase the height was to put a 170mm fork on the front, potentially change the cranks to 165mm and use a +1.5 degree angle headset. This should increase the bottom bracket a little, and bring the head angle to around 64/63.5.

Is it worth it though? Any advice would be great. Link to the bike below:

  1. mulleting is almost always more viable with a 27.5″ frame because a 29″ requires a rear suspension designed with mullet setup in mind to retain the same geometry while 27.5 only requires a 20mm shorter fork to compensate for the 38mm larger front wheel
