  1. Follow sram’s guide to set the tension correctly. Without the adjustment tool you can eye ball with a corresponding size hex key (sticking it between upper pulley and cassette cog)

  2. Does it also do this at sag? Like when you’re sitting on the bike? Or only when you have the bike upside down.

    It might be that the rear mech is still in ‘setup key’ mode. Place the bike back on its wheels and gently pull the derailleur cage forward a cm or two, and then gently allow it to go back to its natural position. If that does nothing, my best bet is that the chain is not sized correctly.
