After some gentle nudging from other posts here and FB, I have finally pulled my finger out and ordered some new carbon wheels for my less than a week old Argon 18 Dark Matter

In fairness, the DT Swiss G1800 aren't too bad…but it needs something a bit deeper to give it some flair…and I'm quite used to having a slightly louder hub with my Lun HYpers on my road bike (that lets people know when Im coming, and yes, I've heard these new hubs are REALLY loud)

So I've gone with the Elite Wheels Gravel Aero+ wheels from the Elite Wheels store at Ali Express.

I went with the XDR version for my XPLR 13 speed setup and paid £424.46 with their shipping option, meaning no import duties/tax and used any discount available, which was the current £60 off £429+ voucher (BTS4466)

This took the price to £424.46….and then made sure to use TopCashback to get 20% cashback totalling £66.56 (all my other cashback at Ali has always tracked without issue. This amount drops in around 2 hours, so if you want it, be quick. (as of 930 on Friday, 22 Aug) So this should take the total cost to £358 delivered, which is a bargain

These will be paired with the existing 50mm Schwalbe G-One RX Pro tyres (57mm clearance, so it will be no problem)

Now we wait

  1. Didn’t know about these, they look great! Make sure to post a picture of them on the bike once they arrived 🙂

  2. Dude, I didn’t even know there’s Ali Ex cashback. Why didn’t I bother to check in 5 years of being a regular customer? Could have saved hundreds of pounds. Going to kick myself now. But thank you for posting this.

I read great and terrible things about this company and it’s wheels. It heavily polarized which makes a purchase decision really hard for me. Cannot guess on which side of satisfaction I will land with these.

I wish you will be happy with these wheels and have great ride on it!

I’ve got a Cannondale Topstone with the Kingpin rear suspension, which uses the Ai offset rear wheel dish to clear the swingarm and drivetrain. I’m looking at a set of Elitewheels carbon wheels and was wondering: is it possible to build or re-dish those to match the Ai offset? Has anyone here done it successfully with Elitewheels (or similar)?
