2 night trip in a week… would you ride on this metzcal? It currently has about 1300 miles on it and theres this small scuff in the sidewall of the tire. The carcass is very very slightly freyed
Prolly not a big deal, but if you came into my shop I’d say definitely do not ride it

I had a continental 5000 road tire that blew out mid ride because of a torn side wall. I would put on a new tire just for peace of mind.

If you don’t swap it and have a blow out you’ll be kicking yourself

2-night trip? I would ride it.
Dirtbag fix would be to put a thin layer of Gorilla Glue over the sidewall damage, but as others have said, if the tire goes you will be kicking yourself.

Ride it. Pack dental floss and a needle, something to use as a tire boot (a section of smooth, plastic bottle will do) and a spare tube. 99% chance you won’t need it, but if you do, you’ll be able to keep rolling.

Honestly it’s really sad that these tires can’t handle 1300 miles before looking like that. I really don’t know why everyone trusts these supple style tires for bikepacking or racing.

Wouldn’t even think twice about it for myself, but if you came into the shop I work at I would recommend you to replace it whether or not you buy that replacement from us…
But also, ride what you got!

I’d probably get a new tire, if you can’t find a mezcal on short notice there are plenty others that do the same thing. You’re gonna need to replace it soon anyway, why not now before it blows out in the middle of nowhere?

If you can afford it, then yes. If you can’t, just run it and see
