Got clipped on my way to the super market. Landed on my feet, no injuries, but got a totaled back wheel. The driver stopped, admitted fault, and cashed me out on the spot. What stings isn’t the money, it’s the history. I’ve had this wheel. Worked my ass off as a teen to buy it, and it’s been with me for 17 years. I did everything right: lights on, followed traffic laws, already in the intersection. Their excuse? “The sun was in my eyes.” Material things can be replaced, sure. But damn… it’s hard letting go of something that carried me through so much. At least I get to rebuild it the same way, and walk away unhurt.
