I have the little Velcro scrap to hold it against the lock, but with only one strap it still does this. I use a huld it to mount it to the frame, I think mayyyybe it came with an extra bit of Velcro for the U part, I’ve dug through all my junk drawers, but can’t find any bit of strap or Velcro or anything that’ll fit my lock.
I’ve been trying to point it so it has to cross my frame before touching my other leg, but at a full 90° angle it’ll touch me. Is a second strap my only option?

Don’t use a Velcro strap for this, you can loop the cable onto itself a couple times to keep it together.
I figured out a method for wrapping my cable around the U such that it crosses through the inside enough to hold it close to the lock (I do this while the shackle is open so I don’t have to thread the cable through).
You can wrap those cables to not pop out by making the last one or two loops pass through the center.
If the cable is kept where it belongs, in the trash can, then it can’t hit your leg.
For my ulock + cable, I got a handlebar bag and store it in there instead of strapping it to the frame.
