I got these just 8 months ago, stored the bike indoor, used it almost daily for commuting. Did some of you experienced it like that? Should I contact the shop I got them from or directly Ultradynamico? Dont really expect anything but I am also disappointed by the quality after only a couple of months. Also since I spent a lot 🤦🏼‍♂️

8 months of regular use for a “race” tire looks good to me. Interesting that the center is barely worn..

Am I misunderstanding the tire you have?

Those are the “RosĂ©” tire – did you get the robusto version, designed for longer life?

  3. Colored tire doing colored tire things. They all do this. Every single manufacturer. Carbon black works.

Source: I live in the high desert. The sun is a hammer and everything is a nail. Tires get replaced when the tread is gone. Black tires.

  4. Is it 8 months or a couple? Cant be both, 8 months is a long time for a boutique, high end, performance race tire, with light casing and rubber. Next youre gonna be surprised when the side wall tears. Also theres nothing wrong with some cracking here and there, the tires fine. If you wanted long life, and longevity, buy a marathon plus tire.

  5. Yeah, that looks like expected wear and tear for a race tire. Those more supple compounds are going to degrade faster than the more robust ones. I’m 4 months and close to 1000 miles on the mid level Rose’s and they still look great.

  6. I’m done with these, and probably any other panaracer made tires, after my current set wears out. I’ve killed two cava robustos on the rear with huge tread and sidewall punctures. They’re just too thin for spirited riding on anything other than packed dirt or mild gravel imo.

  7. Normal. That’s a race tire. I blew through a set of jet xcr’s in a single summer one summer.

Just keep sending it and properly wear them out. Some minor cracking ain’t a big problem especially if you’re running tubes.

  9. I haven’t had great experiences with the brand. As others mentioned, the black tires have held up better but my grey pair wore very quickly and was a bit pesky when I had to plug a small puncture. I ended up replacing – probably won’t go back to UD.

I’ve seen this before on grey and red (colored tread) Panaracer tires at about the same time interval. IMHO, the tread on these Ultradynamico tires is looking pretty good (better than expected) after 8 months of daily use for a race tire.

I’d conclude that it’s the grey tread color (exposed to UV light daily on your commutes) that’s contributing to these dry cracks. A bummer, but pretty good for a race tire used daily!

Some day people will learn they should buy the right tire for their actual riding patterns instead of buying for aesthetic or some other perceived quality.

Racing tires are for racing. They sacrifice some things like durability because they’re expected to be used hard and often.

If you’re not racing there are cheaper choices that will work better.

  12. lack of carbon black, definitely. this is not a brand thing, it’s a colored tire thing.

  13. Is your commute gravel? If not, just buy slicks. And yeah, something in black like the others mention.

I’m so bummed on my 2.1 Cava JFFs. Multiple flats when ran tubeless. If I’m paying this money I might as well do Rene Hearse. Will not be getting Ultradynamicos in the future.

Durability is easily the most common critical comment that comes up when people ask about these tires.
