Hello,

I was cleaning the drivetrain recently when the cassette literally just came off. I now understand this can happen with DT Swiss freewhubs (when the cassette came off it contained what I think is referred to as the 'freewheel body'). I have reassembled everything, in the correct order I believe, but now when I turn the pedals and let go they keep spinning by themselves until the rear wheel revolutions slow. I think this shouldn't be happening.

Any suggestions as to what's going on here?

Thanks,

Keith

Does it freewheel if you hold the pedal?

Then it is just a slighlty sticky freewheel pawl, happens from time to time, did you grease it when you removed the casette?

A little bit of freehub drag is normal. It’s more apparent in the highest gear. If you’re really worried about it you can remove the freehub body and add grease to the pawls/ratchet and it’ll probably go away. I’d recommend just riding and not worrying about it.

  3. This happens when you add too much grease to a freewheel. Not an issue at all & will likely go away with time, if that’s what’s going on

That’s a good thing. It means your drive train is working freely. The dogs will always have drag, that’s how they work.
