Welcome to Day 7 of our 11-day cycling adventure along the Danube River! 🚴
Today’s ride covers 87.1 km from the historic city of Vienna, Austria to the vibrant capital of Slovakia — Bratislava.
We followed the EuroVelo 6 route along the left bank of the Danube, cycling through flat countryside and open farmland. A memorable moment came when we realized we had left a helmet behind at the Nationalpark Café Zipfer—but our friendly ferry captain saved the day, returning it across the Danube!
We crossed the river by ferry from Struden to Haslau, switching to the right bank for the final stretch into Slovakia. Along the way, we passed wind farms spinning above the agricultural landscape, a symbol of clean energy along this peaceful corridor of Europe.
Arriving in Bratislava, we checked into Centrum Salvator, a serene accommodation and spiritual center run by the Sisters of the Most Holy Savior, nestled in the city’s Old Town.
This journey is part of our full 11-day, 773 km ride from Passau to Budapest, cycling across Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
