The new commuter is fast. 1991 merlin, longer rake steel fork, bull moose, friction shifters with 8spd dura ace mech on a 10 speed cassette. Made up some little struts to mount the pannier racks and its rock solid, need smaller bags for day to day. Still need to sort out proper pedals and make some fenders for rainy days. Not sure this is what merlin had in mind.

Nice! I had a friend who worked there at that time as an apprentice framebuilder, and those were some beautiful frames.
Looks good. Since it is a commuter, no mud flaps? I also have one without, and it sucks on a rainy day.
