Updated to the aero drops after a year riding on the classics. Yeah never going back, here’s my review:

The increased 10mm in reach helped me out. Although the 110 worked for me, I did feel a little cramped in the aero position, so instead of getting a 120mm t-bar, these were perfect.

Easy to install, the hardest part is matching the tilt in the shifters. But Canyon includes a cardboard ruler in the packaging to help you match the shifters, actually worked pretty good.

I set them up to 37.5, I’m 6’3 and going to 35 seemed too extreme for me, coming from a 42cm bar. The 37.5 is the sweet spot (for me).

All the crap Canyon says about these bars is true, holy shit. You can hold the aero tuck much longer and comfortable, the drops being flared out help with stability (even though it takes a little getting used to). Next thing I’ll do is probably slam the cockpit…..but damn, is it weird that I actually like the way it looks with the spacers 🥴

Overall, these things are amazing. Might not work for everyone so make are you can handle the extra reach and more aggressive positioning. If you can, do it.

Looks wise, mean asf. I’m not a fan of tilted shifters on normal bars, hot take I feel like it looks kinda dumb. But since these are shaped for that specific angle on the shifters it just looks intentional (but that’s obvious since they were designed for that).

Also, I didn’t want to re-wrap the Fizik solocush I had on the before, and I’m not a huge fan of the Canyon tape. So I wrapped them with some DSP I got from a LBS. I’ve never cared much for DSP but it does feel good, looks ok.

Any other bar tape you guys recommend?

It’s actually a less aggressive position in some ways. It does add 10mm to the reach but moves the drops up by something like 25mm.

Now if that helps you stay on the drops longer with the pace bars, that’s a good thing, but if you can stay in the drops on the classic bars, that’s probably a bit more aero than the pace bars since the drops are substantial lower.

If you ride on the hoods primarily, I would guess that with the extra 10mm of reach and more narrow position, you’re probably a bit more aero on the hoods.

On a fast ride, you’d want to be the drops as much as you can unless you can hold the ‘aero hoods’ position for an extended period. That’s tough to hold though.
