  1. I would not pay $700 more for Apex AXS. That’s the only significant difference. I’d put that money towards race entries, travel, or towards a wheelset upgrade down the line.

Beyond that, I would rather have the 2x gearing on the Diverge for more varied riding but that is a personal preference factor.

  2. The biggest difference is that the trek has electronic shifting. On the other hand, the specialized has 2x front mech. Given the choice I’d probably prefer the wider gearing range. Other than that I’d assume both bikes to be quite similar.

  3. at this price level you will not be disappointed in either of them. both are great products and most likely will fulfill your needs. one difference is the 1x vs the 2x system, you should decide which is more suitable for your future usage.

  4. Both are great bikes and you won’t be disappointed with either.

I personally went for the Diverge for the Future shock, however there is great components out there now where by you can choose the Trek

For the looks I would definitely go with Diverge.
Imo Checkpoint looked amazing but this last version has an awful paintjob and weird looking Trek decals.
If you are looking for more relaxed riding position go with Diverge. Checkpoint has more aggressive geometry.

Both are good bikes as many are saying. I would also recommend taking a look at the Lauf Seigla Rigid as a third potential option, but if you’re locked into these two then I’d personally go for the specialized based on what you’re getting for the price

Edit: having worked for Trek, I have never been a big fan of the isospeed pivot on the checkpoint and domane. And a fair amount of people had maintenance issues, some from neglect, but nonetheless. It’s just another wear point to have to think about

  7. i was in the same dilemma as you nearly a year ago and went with the checkpoint. Now with almost every component swapped out i am loving this bike
