I hit this drop yesterday and heard a loud snap sound on landing. This is a brand new bike, only its third time out, and I am so scared that I've cracked the frame. I've looked it over amd haven't found anything obvious, but what else could this sound be? Is it just from the shocks bottoming out? Im not a heavy rider (135 lbs) and I feel like this drop under my weight shouldn't be enough to crack a frame, but idk. What do you guys think?

What is this noise?

  1. I think that’s the sound of a bike crying for help!

In seriousness, that landing was super harsh and it sounds like your suspensionv(along with some other things) bottomed out hard. It’s a combination of a poor landing and other factors that we would never be able to diagnose from this clip alone.

Sounds like you bottomed out your suspension. Shouldn’t be the end of the world but you do want to maybe double check your air pressure and set up your compression again, might be too open and allowing it to blow through your travel too quickly.

When you take something and smash it into the dirt with the weight of a full grown man it does tend to make a noise

If you are afraid of a crack in the carbon, look for lightning bolt shaped lines. Like wood splinter but thinner.

Your suspension isnt set up for heavy hits like that. You need to tune your suspension. Theres compression settings air tokens and the air pressure. If you dont know how to set your suspension sag, start from there and then watch another video on compression and rebound settings.
