π«π· Everyone talks about Paris or the French Riviera – but no one talks about Gorges du Verdon, and honestly… that’s a good thing (for now).
Tucked away in southeastern France, this place is often called
“Europe’s Grand Canyon” β but instead of dusty red rocks, it’s filled with glowing turquoise water, dramatic limestone cliffs, and endless ways to explore.
π Save this to add to your travel list!
Some activites you can do:
πΆ Kayak through crystal-clear waters.
π₯Ύ Hike cliffside trails with panoramic views.
π¦ Cliff jump, swim, or just float in the gorge. 6 a Take a scenic drive along Route des CrΓͺtes.
π Fun fact: The canyon is 25 km long and over 700 meters deep in some spots – carved by the Verdon River over millions of years.
It’s easily one of the most underrated destinations in France, and it still feels untouched by mass tourism.

Why is nobody talking about this place located south of France? You might want to put this on your bucket list. Welcome to the biggest canyon in Europe, Gourd Du Verde. You can literally do everything here from swimming, cliff jumping, relaxing on the beach, hiking, paragliding, kaying, pedal boating. I’m running out of breath here, but you name it. But the camera does not do this place justice. The canyon walls look unreal, and they tower over you. Seeing this place from the very top and then going down to the bottom really makes you realize how small we humans are compared to the Earth. But I did some research and can you believe the length of this canyon is over 15 mi long and 2,300 ft deep from the highest point of the canyon. That means you can stack two Eiffel Towers here. Let me know if you’ll be adding this place to your bucket list.
