This is the first part of my recent cycling trip across Europe. I started in Klaipėda, Lithuania, and made my way to Nørkapp through Latvia, Estonia, and Finland.
[Applause] [Applause] Stop. Everybody’s Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Okay. Well, I think this is the first time I’m actually saying something, but this is my camping spot for tonight. I don’t like camping in forest because it’s such a annoying job to take my bike here. There is a road right over there. It’s not a main road or anything, but yeah, but in I’m in Finland right now and there is there isn’t any field that’s not occupied by crops or something like that or just surrounded by people. So, you kind of have to I wanted to camp on the coast just about a kilometer in that direction, but I couldn’t find a way to get to it. Take my bike there. All the roads are like occupied by people. But yeah, I’m just in the middle of the forest here. It’s pretty peaceful. Um yeah, I’m going to set up my camp now. Okay. Well, this is my tent for the night. I washed my bike chain and rewaxed it. That was kind of annoying. I also made some dinner, some rice, tuna, and some beans. That’s kind of what I eat most evenings. Sometimes pasta, too. Um, but yeah. Right now is 3rd of June. I’m planning to hopefully get to North Cape by 15th of June. I’m going like 140 kilometers a day right now, which is kind of easy um to reach. I have I want to try to get to 200 kilometers a day, but you know, it’s hard when it’s hilly and I’m not reaching like 20 miles per hour, 20 kilometers per hour, sorry. So, that would need to mess with my sleep and I really need my 8 hours of sleep. So, we’ll see. Tomorrow destination is Coca-Cola and further. Yeah, it will be fun. All right. Yeah, I don’t [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. This is my camping spot for tonight. And I got to say, there are not many things that feel better than finding a good camping spot on a perfect weather and a full stomach. Although the stomach is full of noodles, but we will disregard that. I’m in a middle of the forest. There is a bunch of mosquitoes. So, if I didn’t have a bug spray, I would literally die. But yeah, right now is I think 10th and I should be in the north cap by the 15th. There is about 500 kilometers left or less. So yeah, it’ll be fun. The road is like right here. You know, it’s far enough. I could just get up, pack up my stuff, and continue real quickly. I’m not too far from a little town about 5 kilometers, but there’s a huge incline coming up, so I’m not looking forward to that. But yeah, anyway, time for a good night’s sleep. I am about 15 kilometers of the Norvian border. It’s really cold right now. I don’t know if you can see snow on top of these mountains. Last night it was both raining and it was cold. around 3°, but it’s fine. I have prepared myself for this. Um, yeah, there’s goes another truck. Although there’s nothing there’s been nothing really, no grocery stores or anything for about um 50 kilometers now. So, yeah, soon Norway, let’s go. Well, isn’t this a perfect way to end the cycling journey through Finland and entering Norway? 10% decline. Amazing. I’m going to sit here a bit, the gas station, and just chill a bit. And in the distance, you can already see Norway. I’m really excited about that. So, yeah, let’s go. Oh boy, look at the mountains in the background. pretty intimidating for a cyclist. And I’m pretty sure the North Cap is somewhere there. But I’m pretty deep in the Norway territory. And so far it’s been only hills. But at least it’s not raining, so that’s nice. It’s super windy, but I’ll have wind any day over rain. Yeah. Uh, right now I’m heading towards Lakv, which is about 60 kilometers from where I’m standing right now. So, that’s going to be pretty exciting. But, man, those hills in the background scare me a bit. I saw there’s like a 10% incline near Nordic Cap, so that’s that might be it. We’ll see. All right. Okay. Well, that was the last big incline before the N cap. Man, that was a long incline and it’s really cold right now and I forgot my gloves somewhere. So, yeah, my hands are freezing. I need to buy gloves again. But man, look at that. Look, that looks amazing. I really hope that the North Cap is like one of those mountains, like one of those. It’s obviously not cuz like I’m in that direction, but I really hope it’s that type of mountain. I just want it to look like the end of the world. That would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it? But obviously, it’s not as big. It’s It’ll probably be be this type of incline just a bit more and I’ve been I’ve been climbing for a bit now. Um maybe like 20 more than 20 kilometers I’ve been on an incline. But now it’s it’s going to be a pretty nice decline like 10 or so kilometers. So that’ll be interesting. But I just want to sit here for a moment and appreciate this view. Look how amazing that looks. Yeah. But as I said, it’s super cold here. At night, it will probably be around 2° um at night at well 2:00 a.m. when I’ll be sleeping. Um, so I got to layer up extra for the night. And when you’re cycling and the wind is hitting, it’s it feels like it’s negative degrees. It’s not pretty. But, you know, once you get going and you warm up, it’s fine. But yeah. Jeez, look at this view. All right, I got to get going. There’s still about 40 km 40 km until Luxil, so it’ll be fun. Well, you have this ain’t the view. I’m having a bit of a hard time not recording everything, but come on. Look at that, man. That is just insane.
