Remove the headset and check if the crack is also there from the inside. Then you’ll know.
I’d say paint. It’s a very unusual place to get a crack.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but you need to trash it now. Just tell us where you’ve put it, so we can double-checked it’s been disposed of properly 😉
Remember: unlike aluminium, carbon can be repaired. The repaired place becomes stronger, but heavier than the original layup.
Why do I hear bad sounds if I jump on my saddle? Could it be also bad? Alu gravel.

**Go take it to a shop that makes carbon assessments and rep**. They will have a look at the inside.
Then, if your headtude is cracked, I hope they find what happened, because Canyon can have an awful customer service. That crack could be a bad paint job… or something in the headset is moving, or you got a crash. It could happen with any bike.
Your luck is your frame is relatively cheap, and also carbon is repairable (not saying that it’s worth it). Steel also is, and I’ve seen at least one titanium frame repaired. Aluminum used on bikes is NOT repairable, but it’s cheap enough to offset the cost of repairs of a carbon frame.

Man, that’s a beautiful color combination of mustard yellow and black, love it. Hopefully the crack is just in the paint.
