Hello I'm a newbie,this was fun!!
after this ride, which was my longest, I got a bruised / sore thumb joint only on the left hand and my palms were sore, should I use gloves ? Compression gloves or cycling gloves ?
Also as you can see I have a foam cover on my seat, but my butt was sore at the end, is it something I'll get used to?

  1. Padded bike gloves, good quality bike shorts w/chamois & NO underwear, ditch the extra pad on the seat. You may need to find some folks who have a few saddles lying around that they’re willing to loan out to find one you like. In general, finding like minded cyclopaths is a good thing. They can help you out on stuff like this.

Also, looking at your brake/handlebar setup, the drops should be parallel to the ground and the brake levers should be just about perpendicular to the ground. Yours seem off, but that just may be the angle of the picture.

Also I have flat pedals and I was wearing shoes with soft soles and my toes hurt
Am i supposed to wear a specific kind of shoes ?

I lie old bar tape along the top of the bars and wrap the new tape over the top. Give a bit of extra padding. Weight shouldn’t be on your hand in excess. It should be on your bum and legs. The more you ride the stronger your legs will get and they’ll take more of the weight.

Take the extra pad off the saddle. In my experience with saddles, less is more. Saddles comfort is a nightmare to find. Google/YouTube how to measure your sit bones and then get a saddle the correct width.

  4. That seat actually looks uncomfortable in that it is too wide and too soft. I imagine a lot of people think narrow and hard is uncomfortable, but a good properly designed seat will support you where you need it without making you feel sore.
