Sram GX AXS 12 speed derailleur clutch is weak and I think the chain is dropping between the chainring and frame in big rear suspension compressions and then doing damage on rebound.
Any fix suggestions or should I just get a shimano clutch derailleur?

if it sags like that, I think your chain is just too long – try taking out a few links
Clutch should only be expected to control the bottom run of chain, and your problem appears to be caused by the top run of chain. Is your freehub getting sticky/slow to release and rolling forward a bit when you stop pedaling? That can cause upper chain run slop.
However, on a full sus bike the chain is always getting pretty slap-happy. I’d protect that spot with 3M paint protector film or something even thicker and not worry too much.
I used GX AXS on my [old Ripmo](https://www.reddit.com/r/ripmo/s/GFe5CcQpVo), and had similar damage. I covered the area in VHS tape, rubber tape, and zip ties. It worked.
