Recently got back into biking and this is an old bike I was gifted many years ago. The brake rotor rubs on the breaks and I'm not sure if this is a hydraulic or mechanical brake. Any help is appreciated 🙂👍
[Those are clearly hydraulic brakes](https://tektro.com/en/product/6), although that has nothing to do with the issue at hand.
First, make sure that the disc is running true by making sure it’s not wobbling when the wheel turns. If the disc is okay, you can adjust the calipers by loosening the two screws on the post mounts. For beginners, it may be easier to loosen the screws, give the wheel a soft spin, then pulling the brake lever (the bike has to be upright for this, so you’ll probably need a second pair of hands) and keeping it engaged, while you tighten those two screws again. If both pistons are working the way they should, the caliper should settle itself.
