10:31 Conclusion

i just bought this $498 Walmart Concord electric bike Cheaper than most ebikes out there I have no idea what I’m getting myself into Let’s unbox it quick and see what we’re working with But is this budget eBike worth it i called their support and asked about safety That was interesting And I’m pitting it up against a $1,595 ebike to see how it stacks up Stick around for the verdict What can it do what can’t it do let’s break down what you get for $498 It’s got a 36V 350 W motor that’s paired with a 36V 10 A battery Not unexpected You get a throttle a basic LCD screen Chowoyang tires street tread plastic fenders front and rear a rear rack even a front light that runs off the main battery Shimano turny derailer and thumb shifter and noame mechanical disc brakes and even a step through frame design Yep I fit She fits too Feels good Thumbs up I called Walmart support to ask about UL certification and well this is how that went Hi there I just purchased a the Concord class 2 uh ebike the the step through bike Yes sir And my question was is this UL certified um I was having trouble finding that information So here’s the deal with the UL certification I called Phoenix the manufactured behind Concord Ebikes which to be clear is Walmart’s brand but I forgot to ask permission to record the call That was my bad Instead I emailed their support on a Sunday at 1000 a.m And surprisingly they got back to me by 10 p.m that same day That’s on top of them actually having a phone number to call for support which is certainly more than I expected especially at this price point But the important thing is they confirmed this ebike is certified to UL2849 by SGS That’s the certification for the electronics on the entire bike And the battery is certified to UL2271 as well And here’s the paperwork for proof They also said you can get replacement batteries by emailing Phoenix support And they might also show up on Walmart’s site soon though we’ll see And yes if you’re considering buying a Concord be sure to check the links in the description because I’ll direct you to the one with the throttle because that’s likely the one you want and it can be difficult to find And that model also might not necessarily be sold in stores so pay close attention I rode this bike on the street some trails though not necessarily recommended and a super steep hill and this is how it performed All right this is one of those funny bikes where you need to be moving in order to use the throttle So probably want to shift all the way down or scoot yourself along and then you can use the throttle Let’s see how long it takes us to get to 20 14 16 17 Creeping up 18 and going up a little hill There’s 20 miles an hour according to the display All right pedal assist levels Here we go So first gear about a quarter to a half turn for the pedal assist to engage And it’s a very accessible electric bike because it doesn’t have a lot of power The pedal assist actually feels really good I’m able to provide plenty of power Cruising at about 7 m an hour without too much effort Let’s go into pedal assist level two Just a tiny bit more motor power Creeping up 10 m an hour Going to shift up with the thumb shifter Third gear 11 mph maybe Nice to see what gear you’re in Let’s go into pedal assist level three Not a significant difference there but creeping up to closer to 12 m an hour Shift up to fourth gear here All right up to pedal assist level four Now I really feel the power as or as much as power as you can feel from a 36vt system Have to shift up to fifth sixth gear 15 mph approaching the top speed of 20 mph This is a true class 2 electric bike 20 mph top speed whether you’re using the throttle or pedal assist Saving the best pedal assist level for last pedal assist level Five six gear Here we go Feeling the motor engage And I can actually hear it too 15 16 17 18 19 and we hit 20 miles per hour on the display GPS reading a little bit lower and I’m not even in seventh gear If I wanted a slower cadence I could So it is geared appropriately for its top speed of 20 mph Now the brakes mechanical disc brakes just not quite as easy to pull in than hydraulic If you’ve used both of them though I can stop No problem with these brakes They’re very easy to adjust They’re very simple but you just don’t quite have as much power as hydraulics Let’s stop here All right And pulling both of them Stopping power is actually not too bad And they certainly aren’t the worst mechanical disc brakes that I have felt There are motor cut offs So as soon as I even pull the brake just a little bit I am not going to get power from the motor Really nice safety feature that I think is almost necessary All right this is called the masterpiece Here we go Wow What can it do what can’t it do [Music] testing out those brakes [Music] Whoa All right testing it out on some trails The trails are wet This bike is not intended to do trails This is a street bike You should keep it [Music] there Slipping and sliding I can feel every bump No front suspension Not going to be comfortable on any sort of off-road terrain Here we go Throttle only 36 volts up this trail Water splashing everywhere Comparing it to the Expedition Power fully loaded It’s keeping up We are going to make it up the hill Al what do you think 36 volts I’m on three I’m going to hit four [Music] Uhoh Uhoh I’m losing it I’m losing it Three miles an hour Oh no All right plan B Can I do it while pedaling and yes first gear pedal assist level five Just spinning my legs It’s not too difficult to do And I’m going to make it up this hill So throttle only fail but pedal assist pass But my goal is to always help you guys make a purchase decision Let’s see how this compares to a higher price electric bike $15.95 versus $4.98 What are you really getting for three times the price that is a great question This is the new Ride OneUp Vorsa and it packs a ton of value So it’s a great comparison bike In this case you move to name brandand tires from Schwabby metal fenders a front suspension fork a sturdier rear rack capable of hauling 150 lbs hydraulic disc brakes a through axle mounting points for a front rack lock on grips a trigger shifter an adjustable stem a color LCD display that lets you change from class one two or three This bike will go 28 mph easy There’s even an off-road mode But not only that you can swap between a cadence and a torque sensor on this bike And of course a much larger battery 48vt 15 amp hours a 750 W motor in the rear peaking at close to 1,400 W And yes the electronics as well as the bike’s battery on this one are definitely ULcertified You get a better drivetrain and even a light that’s built into the rear fender You also get two sets of bottle cage bosses And as we saw the Concord struggled on our hill climb test while the Vorsa took me up on throttle alone no problem So is the $498 Concord electric bike worth it well if you’re a casual rider new to electric bikes on a strict budget for the price it’s kind of a steal And the mechanical disc brakes are probably the biggest consideration Also it’s just a 36V system So if you live in a flat area you’re probably going to be fine But if you want to go 28 that’s just not going to be possible And of course range you’ll get about 20 m on the Concord So you get what you pay for mostly But I also was pleasantly surprised that I called them and they picked up almost immediately So if you need support it seems like it’s there If you’re curious to check out the Concord or any other electric bikes that Walmart offers I’ll drop an affiliate link down in the description I bought this electric bike and I want to keep this series rolling I want to review every Walmart electric bike and you can help me do it Give this video a like subscribe to the channel Thank you so much I already have an eye on the next model that I want to review from Walmart And drop a comment down below I want to hear what you think of Walmart selling $500 electric bikes [Music] [Music]

  1. Have the Concord. Works great for my use. I weigh 250 lbs and can ride this at 20 mph on city roads for 20 miles no problem.
Young State Park 4 miles to Boyne City 5 miles to WIldwood Shores up a steep hill using pedal assist on a full charge…so 9 miles on hilly terrain.

  2. The only reason and the sole reason why most people do not have an electric bike is that it is goddamn expensive. You get a cheap one? You're not going to get a good commuter and are getting a short-range bike, that's for sure. You also can't get an expensive one since that could be well above your means. If you're looking to squeeze the most value, consider the $1,695 Philodo Falcon, which offers a significantly better bike experience than the Vorsa Ride1Up at a comparable price. The Vorsa Ride1Up literally has specs similar to an electric bike that is less than 1/2 the price at $708, so it should definitely be priced at approximately half of what they're charging. It would be a little interesting, though, to compare two electric bikes at different price points with the same battery capacity, sort of like the Biktrix Juggernaut Lite versus the Funhang EB-S1, for example.

  3. The Core City Commuter Electric Bike has a Sale price of $449.00 with a 750 W Peak Motor Top speed listed as 22 Mph, and Up To 50 Miles listed Range.
    A 36V 13Ah Battery And 350 LBS
Payload Capacity. Since it's at a similar price point but a next stage markup bike I would love to see an honest review.

  4. NO

The answer is NO. It is not UL certified until each and every individual product displays that both on the box and also on the product. If anyone made any mistake and shipped it like that, it is NOT UL certified.

And now both thie company that made it and also Walmart are now facing all kinds of liability issues. They won’t be able to ship these essentially anywhere.

  5. If your ebike is older than two years or so it isn't UL listed. They aren't just blowing up all over. A UL listing doesn't mean your battery is safe, only that it complies with their standard. You're best off with a quality battery/controller/charger and reputable manufacturer. Unfortunately the quality battery set up isn't cheap

  6. Great and honest video ! Thanks for not playing rock music in the background! I don't have an eBike yet but am considering one. After doing research for the past few days your video pretty well confirmed what I have been reading and viewing on the internet. I am considering the Veefa M2 at $1349.00 (Canadian) any thoughts? By the way where did you make the film? Those are excellent bicycle trails. John, Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

  7. As of Jul 2025, it seems the $498 "Step-THROUGH" version of this ebike is no longer being sold by Walmart (at least in Southwest USA. Don't know about other regions).
But for an ADDED $50, you can buy the "Step-OVER" version, which has added a metal BAR from the steering post to the seat post that PREVENTS you from stepping through…thus totally screwing up a major plus feature of the ebike.
But be happy, because you can still step OVER to get on the ebike. Just like many of the other ebikes.

  8. People cry about mechanical disc brakes, yet they forget how nice they are compared to the old standard of rim brakes. Rim brakes used the wheel rims to slow down, which would eat away at the wheel rims (a very expensive constant replacement). Rim brakes generally are not that efficient either. If you have disc brakes, regardless of them being mechanical or hydraulic, you should be happy.

  9. the prices seem strange, why would the one with a throttle have a lower price? 🤔 my local Walmart says they have the one for 548, so which one has the throttle?

another question, the website says it's out of stock for order, is there any other places you can order this ebike?

  10. why is this (similar to many various Amazon video reviews) titled an "honest review"? Did you have past reviews that weren't? Why do you need to explain that this one is honest?

  11. Riding at 28mph on a shared use trail is pretty irresponsible, if you want to ride that fast you should be riding on the street. Speed limit in Wisconsin is 15mph on trails.

  12. BUY the Cheap one ! Base reason : your E bike fantasy will wane over a summer's use.
The cheapy will live longer than your interest in using it.

  13. I got a vivi brand from Walmart for total 570$ and it was bit better than that one had front shocks goes without peddling ext but after 2 years the bike seat broke off clean got injured these Chinese bikes beware

  14. Looking for a mission in life so i went to 28 Walmarts and not one of them across 2 states had the vike in stock. 75% of the store managers said its a online order only.. check in each store not one of these stores had any e bikes . Onky stand on scooters & hooverboards

  15. I bought 3 ebikes this week. 2 of them are the commutr series by concord and the other is the folding bike concord makes. The commutr series one is mine and the other is for one of my kids to ride. Mine is the class 2 and the one for the kids is a class 1. Only difference is the thumb throttle. I live in Appalachia so its hilly and steep sometimes but my wife and I rode a 30 mile loop with ease yesterday. Had about 1/2 battery life left on mine hers was a little lower cause she went all electric the last 4 miles lol. 20 mph is plenty on these trails. If we want to go fast we have a sport touring ninja 1000sx to enjoy. So we dont have any other need for speed
