I just replaced my chain with a KMC X11. The master link seems to be catching ever so slightly as I’m pedaling. Doesn’t hang up the chain at all but you hear the click every time it goes over the guide on the (new) rear derailleur.

The chain is routed incorrectly. It’s supposed to go behind the tab between the jockey wheels

Your chain is now going through the derailleur correctly. It should not touch the metal part.
See the diagram (picture taken from another website):
Take the chain off… don’t put it on that side of the metal tab
Not routed correctly through the derailleur.
I’d say that routing the chain incorrectly and asking for help is a right of passage, but I still route it incorrectly maybe 1 of every 10 times before realizing what I did.
Classic wrong chain routing)
As others said, chain needs to be rerouted so it comes off the upper jockey wheel and inside the cage behind the support tab.
Is it just me or has this issue been coming up a lot more frequently in the past few weeks? I wonder if that’s because we’re nearing the end of the summer in the northern hemisphere and people are all starting to replace worn out components around the same time.
If left long enough it might wear through and fix itself 😂
Routed incorrectly
Happened to me after I did my first waxing, and I thought I’d broken something until I saw the metal tab and had a OMFG/palm to the forehead moment.
Visible metal on metal contact and metal chips everywhere from the chain abrading the tab, and this looks normal to people?
