Wrexham AFC Stadium Works Update | Championship Ready? | Infrastructure, The Rock & Academy
Wrexham AFC are gearing up for their first home game in the Championship at the iconic STōK Cae Ras—but while the pitch is nearly ready, infrastructure around the town is under serious pressure.
In today’s video, we look at the latest stadium redevelopment progress, including work on the new Kop Stand, players’ dugouts, and LED perimeter boards as Wrexham AFC continues to modernise the Racecourse Ground for life in the second tier of English football.
🎥 But there’s a bigger issue off the pitch…
As Wrexham AFC rises through the leagues, the town itself is being stretched. Matchday chaos is becoming the norm—Wrexham needs a proper Park and Ride system, improved public transport, and better parking solutions to support the club’s growth and the increasing number of visitors.
We also explore:
The Rock in Rhosymedre, where Wrexham AFC Women’s Team currently play – could this become a bigger part of the club’s future plans?
The need for a state-of-the-art training ground and long-term investment in in Wrexham AFC Academy facility.
How infrastructure upgrades are just as vital as transfer signings in the club’s rise through the EFL.
As the stadium redevelopment continues, attention must turn to how the club, local council, and investors can “future-proof” Wrexham as a Championship (and maybe one day Premier League?) town.

👋 Tom!
❤
The concrete could be anchor points for the Kop….just outside the box thinking
I don’t think Wrexham is ready to be promoted, solid squad to get upper mid-table but I don’t see those players punching through the playoffs in my neutral opinion
Still don't understand the reason for leaving so much of this work so late. The dugouts should have been finished weeks ago.
Relax with the premier league. The question is, do you have the population to sustain a premier league team, I don't think so.
Is it just me or has that substation work taken weeks
I’m surprised they didn’t install nets to prevent balls from launching into a construction site. Is the plan to just have a bunch of people back there to catch balls and thrown them back? Little confused about it.
It is interesting to find out, in the UK you name your strong wind storms like the USA names their hurricanes – at 85mph that is considered Cat 1 level hurricane out of 5 cats. 😊
The academy tractor is missing again😭
I miss some things about living in the UK . . .
Come to the channel everyday for updates. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into the videos. Up the town 👍
It might be best for Wrexham to just stay in the Championship for one more season and then make a real push the season after. Having the KOP finished would make the stadium feel more premier league ready.
What's your prediction for our first game?
Firstly I hope everyone is ok from the storm. Want to thank you for showing us the Academy and The Rock. Gibraltar might fight you for the name, but my money would be on Wrexham. Many see the beauty of the women’s field and how you could enhance that. With the growth of the team comes the growth of the city. I hope everyone wants to see that growth, but to also maintain the aesthetics and history of the town. Seeing renderings of the new Kop using local bricks and the Iron Wheel, R&R want to do the same. Have only been a fan from the Welcome to Wrexham show, but I doubt anyone reading this would not want the student village center moved. There will continue to be challenges ahead, and I look forward to you covering them and showing us the outcomes. Thank you for the video. Watching from Florida.
I know all the progress that has been made at the Stadium this summer. Still annoying to see very little progress on KOP. Have said it before, I think Wrexham is being really let down by the city council. To borrow from one of my favourite sport books and movies. Wrexham AFC under its new owners and management have built it, and the people are coming. Now it is up to city council to provide parking, and policing plans for game days. City council might also want to figure out ways to attract more pubs, restaurants and small shops to the town. So all those folks coming to support the team, have places to spend their money!
I was just thinking about the training ground part when you were showing the academy, then the next frame, you mentioned the call this year for the training ground.
Can they afford a new training ground and the continued upgrade to the stadium?
Loving this journey ❤……. I fear for Wrexham if they clinch promotion into the premier league…. Too much too soon me thinks , but what a fantastic achievement so far 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think the flats being remodeled and used by the club would be huge. could use it for away teams, VIPs could stay there the night before a match. Unless the plan on expanding the other stands next to them. Which could happen in the future barring they keep bringing money in. That lot would also be good for parking or even some little shops. lots of potential either way you see it. I hope the club is ready for the influx hahaha. Going to be a lot more busy even in the Championship, i can't imagine making the PL. Would be a huge difference. But also amazing growth.
thanks for this ,enjoy the season, you,ll do well to finish mid table.
Idk why but even with the notifications on, YT won't notify me of your videos 🥲
Thank u for showing us more of the city! I wonder what is happening with Ryan's park 🤔
How's Floris treating Wrexham? we've had everything bar snow lol
Very wise on not flying 👍
Did they ever get Ryan's tractor back?
I know the club can't tell us everything but some updates on The Rock, Ryan's park etc would be the least I'd expect 🤷♂️ the Comms team is about the same as labours, not a compliment lol
Who owns the women’s ground now?
Great video! I come to get my daily update on how things are progressing.
Hope the storm doesn't do too much damage or flooding. Once I was in confluence of two massive thunderstorms which created an "eye" like opening as they merged.. awesome and terrible sight.
Training ground will be announced in spring after Kop is finished. All efforts will be to meet the competition next summer.
As far as the Flats, the smaller flat building should be torn down or at least partly to allow for the stand to be expanded. The only way they can go is up right now with a second stand on top with some sort of cantilever design for unobstructed views. Will be interesting to see what Populous comes up with …
Agree the taller building could be used a hotel, but there doesn't seem to be enough space of amenities. Maybe as accomodations for u21 players or new transfers? The more expensive option could be offices for the team with maybe flats on top 2 floors for Rob and Ryan ….but then which one would get the top floor😂. Like two brothers fighting for top bunkbed. Hahahahaha!
Great deal of speculation in some respects
Many thanks for the video. Much appreciated to see other training grounds. Didn't expect to see that fast:)
Think the concrete areas could house new score boards? Now the old board in the tec end gone 1 will need installing somewhere even if it's temporary
Wrexham does best to push promotion to the third season of championship football! So that way they can get the men’s and women’s academy on the same or new ground with all the modern facilities needed on the same ground. I think Fc Groningen (the team from the north of the Netherlands, of which you lost 3-1) is an example when it comes to modern day training facilities 👌🏽.
They might be able to expand the kops opposites standing👌🏽
I wonder are the subs benches going to have heated seats.
Serious investment is needed at colliers park, and the ladies training and pitch. Wrexham itself will come to a standstill on match days unless there is a new multi storey car park with park and ride facility. I’ve a feeling promotion is a given too.
Ya se ve el estadio mas listo para el 12 de agosto enfrentar al Hull. Saludos desde Bogotá – Colombia.
This video showcased how pretty and scenic the surroundings of wrexham is!
Heya! Do you have an e-mail address you'd be willing to share. In the very early stages of planning a second visit to Wrexham and wanted to bounce a few questions off you.
Thanks Tom!!
I heard about the storm earlier and hope that everyone is okay 🙏
A very thought provoking video. You're so right about the training ground. A lot of recruitment in today's age is about that facility. The players spend the majority of their time there, not at the stadium. Ideally you want the pitch to be the same as the stadium, an indoor ground and the academy located there also. Plus the medical facilities, offices, etc. The expense of that goes toward PSR. I know as a Leicester fan that's what got them in trouble. Premier League problems. They have to get there first.
I wonder if those concrete slabs are for the Kop? Based on the renderings, it looked pretty close to where that fence is. Just speculation.
Stay safe and have a great day 😊
