  1. British Steel, British Telecom, Royal Mail & Post Office, Our Essential Utilities & the railways… We privatised them all to varying degrees but the essentials really need to come back under public ownership.

  2. You can’t have a steel industry with UK energy costs. It just doesn’t work. It’s sad but that the reality. Now we need to move on and retrain. – this is the only way to survive. Do you think we should go back to the horse and cart?

  3. The bit of the UK Climate Change plan that's missing is the new industrial parks that produce primary industrial feedstocks in a way that doesn't cause Climate Change. It'd pretty much all be 'research' / prototype at the moment, but it needs to be happening and it isn't.

  4. Y'all rely on the government to much to help you out. World war 2 ended 80 years ago, you don't need the government to tell you what to do

  5. What why dont we have a national steel companies , you need that to do anything, cars , agriculture, housing , industrial, hospital , we need to protest these politicians out and get people who will do good by the uk not these snakes of politicians

  6. £1,000,000,000 blackmail plot, and it's only because it was sold to foreigners.

Again the dirty politicians steal British industries and sell them in dodgy deals which those new owners try to blackmail more money out of us.

Why not arrest the blackmailers and dodgy politicians who created this?

  7. ‘British’ Steel – owned by a Chinese multi-industrial company, Jingye Group, since March 2020. Just another example of this country having been sold out to the highest bidder by governments prioritising privatisation rather investing in public services and industries.

  8. Labour government has not got a clue . Picking on the elderly and disabled. Austerity and more Austerity. We need to slow down on net zero. We need to back our industry. We need steel to build. Not import steel.

  9. Why does people expect to never need to learn or adapt? Why do people expect to coast their whole lives learning nothing or living off goverbment handouts?

  10. I wonder if and how many government grants were paid to the owners of that company!!
I’m sick to death of industries leaving these lands.
We need to start producing our own stuff.
You men could run this with your eyes closed, so why not…
    Be your own bosses!

  11. Guys and lady's don't wait on government they will not help you at all promise the earth then don't deliver
. Just look at post office the bad blood people the thalidomide case the women under payed not a penny to any off them.?????

  12. Been working here 8 weeks now, really enjoyed it and thought about finally settling down to climb the career ladder as it is genuinely a good place to work, the work is hard but enjoyable and most of all, all the people I meet on the plant are pleasant unlike most factories I've worked at.

Would be a shame to see it go but I don't see labour doing anything to save it they'd sooner give all our money away overseas.

  13. Should be nationalised asap all the steel should go into building naval ships instead of importing the stuff,,🤬🤬🤬 the carriers and others full of steel from turkey 😮😮😮 we need to be able to manufacture our own metal 😊😊

  14. As a conservative normally I’m actually backing starkers government. Savings need to be made but they also need to have a real plan in place to support critical industries such as Steel. It needs to be bought of the Chinese then sold to the UK gov and invested in. Same with the water companies and power companies. The gov should own critical industry and also utilities. That’s not to say they will have a monopoly but it needs to be done.

  15. The biggest issue I see here is with everything going on in the worle, wether thwres a war or not. Military spending is going up. Where are they planning on buying all the steel from in a war or sonething? China? Yeah dream on

  16. Why is this closing? So we can buy american steel to please the orange faced burger king? I certainly suspect that's a big part of it.

  17. Sell all your essential industries to your competitors and expect them to make them thrive. You couldn't make this up.

Meanwhile drive a green agenda to make them completely unviable and act surprised when they all get closedown.

Way to go incompetent UK governments. What a set of muppets.
