In my quest to find reasonably priced Rx shield/visor style cycling glasses, I decided to give Zenni Optical a try. So far, I'm impressed!

Since I ride in a variety of conditions, including early low-light mornings, and in-and-out of shade, I prefer photochromic lenses. I had been riding a couple of years with the Wiley X Saint Rx glasses with Transitions Optical Gen 8 brown lenses, which are very good. Though I have always liked rose/red based lenses the best because of their excellent contrast and color- enhancing qualities. When I discovered that Transitions now offers Ruby lenses in their current Gen S lineup, I knew these lenses where for me.

Regarding my prescription, these are progressive vision lenses and I also have an astigmatism in both eyes. Thus far, cycling with these glasses has been a very positive experience with excellent near, intermediate and far vision, with no "fisheye effect" that a few have experienced with these glasses.

Regarding fit, I have a medium sized head and I did have to make a few minor adjustments to the nose pads and temples, which are adjustable. Also, the frame doesn't interfere with my helmet.

Lastly, you can't beat the price of $227 USD! That's about it.

Interesting to see they have this new style without the double lenses. I have two pair of cycling glasses from them from past years but they both have the second interior set of lenses that are the actual prescription lenses. I’m excited to try these if they will accommodate my -7.0 prescription.

  2. Which lens tint is that?

I recently bought the same frame style, also with photochromic progressives. But the site had no real details on the light transmission values for the different lens styles, and the “amber” ones I got don’t get nearly as dark as what you’re showing here.
