Hello, I’ve always enjoyed biking but it was only last year that I got a nice-ish bike. I need help with filling PSI for this tire. I have Randonneur 37-622 and online it states the ideal PSI is between 60-80. The thing is I’ve never filled tires that much. All my life I’ve gone by “feel” when I had cheap mountain bikes, I’d fill until I could only barely push the tire in with firm pressure. Now I have an electric pump that senses pressure and I noticed I was feeling the bumps more so I checked and these tires were at 19. I filled to what I felt by pressing is the right amount and it was only up to 30z so I filled to 42 and rode it and it feels much better but I’m nervous about putting it up to 60. I can’t imagine doing 80. Won’t the tires explode? Or should I trust the online evaluations and specs of the tire?

Very unlikely to explode, but nobody is making you follow the calculations. I will tell you that I’ve gone on the thumb test like you for probably a decade. It’s imperfect but so what. I don’t obsess over the optimal psi for my 20 mile loop
