this is a traditional way people might sharpen a knife but if the knife edges rolled starting it like this first unrolls that edge and then you can go like this

Hone
Go up n down on the same side gets way sharper
I thought that was just a way to help keep it sharp longer, but to actually sharpen it you need a stone?
Hahaha you clearly know what you’re doing.
That's not a sharpener. It's to hone the edge.
Its called honing not sharpening.
All that metal bro nasty
yall dont know what yall talking about 🤦♂️
That’s not sharpening. That’s honing. You are maintaining the edge by straightening the edge.
You don't sharpen with a steel.
You're honing the knife, not sharpening it.
If a knife cuts better, it is sharper. Honing is sharpening people. Splitting hairs doesn't make you smart.
Terrible
It's called a honing steel (also known as a butcher's steel or sharpening steel).
Dat is een aanzet staal 😢
He’s not trying to sharpen this knife, he’s simply resetting the edge. This will extend the life of the knife and save you time by not having to sharpen the knife so frequently. Often the edge of a knife will roll with use, giving the impression that it needs to be sharpened.
I love micrometals sprinked on my onions before cutting them🧅
Hey thats not how to "sharpen" thats how you hone your knife after you sharpen it. That just refines the kinde edge to be a dot toothy, lol, its like a learther strop, so the lighter you do it the better as well, if it were sharpening, youd see metal shavings build up real fast
You have no idea how to work with knives and sharpener
I worked in restaurants for years and I can tell you that A steel doesn’t sharpen a knife.
I think it keeps the blade aligned but to sharpen the knife you need to run it on a wet stone.
This steel rod is not for sharpening, it is for straightening the edge only
No that’s not a way at all, traditional maybe for those who lack knowledge.
This us not sharpening a knife. Either figure out what you're talking about, or don't post crap like this.
Bro knows nothing about knives lol😂
And then instead of cleaning the metal shavings before cutting food, they use the food to clean the shavings.
if you search for google in google you get to google
THOSE DON'T SHARPEN YOUR KNIFE. IT HONES IT.
You are honing not sharpening
I do not know why people still use that thing. It's been proven under microscope that it doesn't do anything for a knife. In fact, it worsen the knife because you will NEVER keep the angle of the knife the same compared to grinding it on a wetstone.
Go and look up some video on expert knife sharpener. For example; OUTDOORS55. He deep dive into the microscope to tell you exactly what apex on a knife looks like.
Atleast we ain't getting iron deficiency with this method.
yeah that thing only aligns the blade to be straight but not sharpen lol
Traditional way is using a sharpening stone
Theres no metal sprinkles in anything. Hes not sharpening the knife and removing any steel. Hes honing the blade and standing the edge back up. If the edge gets chipped there no way to put a new edge back on the knife with a honing steel. That steel only realigns an already good edge.
Thats to maintain thr edge not make it sharp youl need a sharpening stone for that
That's for Honing not sharpening 😅
yeah right over the food you're about to cut
Instructions unclear my penis is now splitting cracks
That’s a honing tool
