After about 15 years on an old, very heavy hardtail MTB i had a gravelbike high up on my shopping list, after borrowing one from a friend.
It also came about that i switched jobs to a place where i can commute on bike again instead of just riding on days off.
My local bikeshop is konda to blame for me goong electric. I had tried stuff like the full power Bosch CX and never liked how over-motorized they felt and how the bike added exta resistance when pedaling over the 25kph cut-off. They showed me the light ebike category i didn't know existed, and i fell in love. With the Bosch SX the bike isn't as massive, feels super natural when switching off the support or above the support threshhold and the support isn't as unnatural feeling when it comes in.
The Bike is a KTM Gravelator SX-20
After the first 100km i really like it. When Keeping a sporty ridestyle and keeping the heartrate and power up , the motor only comes into play on some passages that would totally burn my legs out on analog.
Very enjoyable experience over the whole tour, breezing along at a quick and smooth average, having a cardio workout but taking out some of the worst suffering.
I don't regret it, but i'm pretty sure i will catch some flak.
Nice riding to everyone

The best bike is the bike which gets you the longest out of the house. So who cares really.
If it encourages you to ride more and enjoy it more than a non motorized one, who cares?
Awesome pictures too, mind telling us were you are? seems like a great holiday destination.
Many safe miles!
There’s no need to feel ashamed.
I think I’ll go with a similar kind of bike when the need arises (pain in the knee that won’t go away even though I had a bikefit, hit the gym and went to see a sport doctor).
It’s all about the fun, going outdoor, enjoying the scenery…plus, as you mentioned, your bike mainly relies on muscular traction before engaging the motor so you’re good 🙂
