Trying to remove sunrace 10sp cassette from the freehub. (This I think: https://fortnine.ca/en/sunrace-csmx3-10-speed-cassette). The hub is kind of weird, à Velocity convertible hub. When I went to pull the cassette off, the whole thing came apart as pictured, and I can’t really figure this out. Thanks for any advice.

Pop it right back in. Scary the first time it happens, but that is the design.
You have to remove the lock ring first
Had the same happen to me with a sunrace cassete too but on a different hub…idk why it happens but i just put it back in its place and wiggled the cassete off gently 🤷. I guess its normal for that to happen?
Normal on that style of freehub. They’re just held in by the paws tension and the axle. Is the cassette stuck after the lock ring was removed? That’s common on aluminum freehub bodies if the lock ring isn’t torqued tight enough. The loose cassette cogs will chew into the softer aluminum freehub body.
More than likely the individual cogs have chewed into the free hub body. Start at the smallest one, hole the base of the cassette and turn it counter clockwise a little. Wash, rinse, repeat until it off. If it’s bad, it will leave some burrs behind. You may have to file those off to get it back on.
The issue is that said Sunrace cassette only has 2 or 3 loose cogs and then the rest are on 2 carriers IIRC. The CSMX3 is their “light weight” monster cassette, and the carriers are aluminum… soft aluminum. I would not be surprised if the *opposite* problem of normal has happened, and the cassette has mushroomed and merged into the freehub.
