Woke up under a tree in my little wild camp spot just outside Reading 🌳. Packed up the tent, loaded the bike, and set off on what I knew would be a challenging ride — cycling into London on my fully loaded touring bike.
The roads and villages were busy, and I felt every bit of that nervous energy as I navigated traffic and roundabouts. But then I found a stretch of peace — a few cycle paths running along the Thames, away from the noise. Those moments reminded me exactly why I travel this way: slow, simple, and connected to the journey.
Rolling into London felt like a big milestone. This is just one chapter in my longer ride across the Velo Route 5, all the way to my friend’s wedding in Italy. No trains, no buses — just pedal power and the freedom of the road.
If you’ve ever dreamed about packing your life into a few panniers, sleeping wherever you can, and making your way across countries one day at a time, follow along. I’m sharing the highs, lows, and honest realities of life on two wheels.

Ireland to Italy. Master of any today. I’m going to be cycling into London. I’m a little bit nervous about the size of London with my touring bike. Now, I wasn’t going to go before having some breakfast. It was a 5-hour cycle into the center of London. I didn’t know what to expect in terms of traffic. The road’s been hectic. The closer I got, the more cycle paths I found. Let’s go.
