We show the Seine cycle from Norville to Jumièges and then onto Rouen, over a couple of days, mostly on bicycle paths or quiet roads. Finally, we were able to see the Seine, although not always able to ride along aside it.
Heat. Heat. [Music] Hallelujah. But who would stay in a hotel in town when you can stay here? How beautiful is this? We’re just about to leave and we’re going to cycle over. Can’t see the river, but it is over there. And we’re just sitting on the balcony of our cottage. Uh, and we’ll take off for our next 40 50k. We’re just coming out of Norville and I think we might be heading down the hill towards the same I saw a couple of really big uh barges. I imagine they weren’t ships, but I think they’re barges. Rolling up it yesterday and uh I think today is going to be a really spectacular ride along the uh edge of the Sain River, which obviously goes all the way to Paris. But we’ll stay off the main roads with a little bit of luck today and be on the cycle ways and different things next to the river. Didn’t feel as though we were that high um up in Norville, but this is quite steep. So perhaps we were. But we’ve hit the flat a kilometer out of Norville and we are approaching the same for the first time which we’ve been looking forward to. Cycle ways. No cars hopefully. Pretty specky. So this is the Eurov 33. Am I right? Is that right? No. No. Euro. No Eurov. Okay. It’s not the Euro 33. Well, we’ve found the Sane. We’ve come out of Norville. We dropped down I don’t know couple hundred meters I suppose. And we’re finally on the edge of the beautiful Sain River. There’s some lovely houses sitting on the edge of the river here. They’re not all mansions and manners, but they’re beautiful places. They’ve got a few people sitting on the top deck enjoying sun, but it is a little bit cool. in memory of Captain Galier dead on the back whatever that is in command service 19 17th of August 1943 and all the civil victims of the war except for the France for the French victories and our heroes 191418 [Applause] motorcycle way. It’s um from Norville to the town’s halfway to Rouan. I’m not even going to remember the name, but it’s about 40k and um we’ve had maybe oh big symmetry. Uh we’ve had maybe uh two kilometers on the edge of a road, a medium type road. We’ve just left a little town called Jimier where we stopped and bought some supplies and we’re on a a little back back roady sort of place that I think goes down to the sane and then we continue on next to the sane for four or 5 km. Yes, it’s so nice in the country areas that you’re off the main off the main roads and enjoying the real countryside. It’s spectacular. You see the sign on the gate up or on the fence up here? That is the sign saying EV33. And this these are the signs pretty much that we’ve been following. Sena and EV33. If it’s not an EV, it’s the Bellow Maritime 33, which is coming back to the saying. How nice is that? We’ve only got a few kilometers to go to our accommodation, but this is a nice way to end the cycling day. Beautiful, isn’t it? We’ve hit the jackpot with some of these country uh accommodations. They’re beautiful. Jackie, open up. We’ll go and have a look. Oh wow again. Just look at how beautiful this is. And bedrooms upstairs or the bedroom upstairs with a nice little a bookcase. I don’t know if you can see that, but anyway, that’s where it is. What a beautiful uh Airbnb with well, you couldn’t ask for more, could you? [Music] Today we’ve woken up to very misty day. Just going to show you. We love staying in these beautiful Airbnb places. There’s a pear tree right here. And then we’ve got apple trees. And I’ll show you some apples. Yum. Okay. [Music] It’s uh 20 10. I guess it’s a bit cooler today. It’s about 7 or 8° foggy, but it will end up being fine. Oh, service suspended. Well, we’ve come out of Jimier or um whatever the pronunciation is and to get on the uh Eurov 33 or the Maritime, we need to cross this river. And uh that’s not looking good just at the moment. All is not lost. I think we’ve got a barge in waiting area boarding. Heat [Music] up here. [Music] He was just down the bottom eating an apple. Now, this is how we navigate with our commute. So, the X where I’m moving at the moment, which is why it says zero. The average speed’s 15.6. six. This is so much better than Google Maps or anything like that. Taking us to Wana. Here she is coming up the big hill. It’s nice now, isn’t it? Yeah. Beautiful. He’s getting some layers off. Yes. Whoa. No idea where we are, but very pretty, isn’t it? The corn has red husks. It’s different. Eh, I saw that. Yeah. I’m not sure where this came from, but this was a steep hill 2/3 of the way down. climbing. A little kimoot map says it’s a sharp left and then a right. We’re on the other side already. Another five-star meal. Here we are. The best baguette almost in the entire world. Um, with came and bear and nice tomato and salt and pepper. Best view. And this is the view. How much do you pay for that? Well, we paid at €130 for a baguette. And we had the other stuff anyway. So, fivestar lunch for a zero star cost. Beautiful here. I don’t know what this town is called, but very very pretty. Beautiful day, beautiful riding. We’ve ridden about 30k and we’ve probably got about 20 to go into Ruan. All going well. Some of these homes looking out across the pretty pretty special. They’re not like grand manners. Little bit more humble than that most of them. Well, it looks like we’re crossing the same gazy down here and have a look more action now, isn’t it? [Music] We crossed over the the sane on the river barge. Doesn’t cost anything. It’s really very efficient. Just cruising down the other side on this traditional cycle way. You can’t avoid getting a little um bit of time on some of the secondary roads. It’s interesting to see just how big some of the industry is in here. Um I would have thought we were 70 or 80 kilometers off the coast up there saying these industries are big. Some of these factories are big. This is a great site. We’re just on the path going about what are we 14 km out of Rua and the path through town. Uh the cycle way. Look at the fruit on these apple trees. Pretty place. Okay. Oh, 99. Just spent uh 50 km uh riding to and uh we’re just early now. We’re having a beer on the waterfront. Keep going. Pri perhaps this. Nope. Further up. 21. That’s a big go. 23. Here we are. Okay, we are just in our apartment. I don’t know what number it is. The building looks nothing on the outside, I’d have to say. But you come inside and as usual. Oh, find a light switch. Really nice. Nice kitchen. Wow. Just a little bit of uh eating, dining up here. And then you think, well, there’s Jackie falling over for us. Yes. And this is uh we’re going down into the dungeon. Oh, careful. Top step is a bit big. Don’t fall down. Spoil your holiday. Hey, how’s this? How is this teley heating? Queen size bed. Wow. Nicely done. Air coming in. Heater. We might turn the heater off. I think we’re in the basement and so we get no noise. Nice little lounge to sit there and uh read or have a drink or do whatever. Very cool. Very cool. So, back up the stairs. [Music] Here we are. Fantastic. [Music] [Music] Thank you. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music]
