Just came back from my first longer bikepacking trip crossing Germany (almost) east to west. Started in the beautiful Saxony Switzerland (first pics) and then went westwards towards Cologne 🙂 90% solo, my dad joined for a day.

Learnings:
– enjoy the journey! Some of my fav memories are of stopping to admire places or interacting with people
– good rain gear + decent bibs were gold worth
– I used a 10l runners vest next to my bags, but that led some days to back pain – would rather use fork bags next time
– plan for the arrival early – all my friends were busy riip
– eaat alot
– tiredness def adds up, taking an easy day in the middle made it much more enjoyable
– test your gear! I didn’t bring my tire levers as the new multi-tool I had did have some – but they were absolute crap, not sure what I’d have done without a kind couple nearby
– double-triple-check Komoot is not trying to kill you by sending you on highspeed roads
– bibs are hard af to dry

Aand much more! Was overall a great experience. Next time I wanna do it with other people but doing it alone made me be much more present 🙂
