I found this on Facebook for £125 with the description: Specialized Allez sport road bike
Size medium 54 cm
Lovely road bike -light & fast
Excellent condition used indoors only (turbo trainer )
Shimano sora group set
Body geometry saddle
Giant SR2 wheel set
Serviced
Everything working as it should.

Now I’ve also been offered a deal by someone at work with a Sabbath September with Uletgra Gearset, well maintained for £500, only selling due to unfortunate health circumstances which render the bike now unused.

I’m new to cycling. Started a few weeks ago and currently use a 7 speed Carrera Parva with 27.5×1.75 tyres but want to get myself a road bike or something just a bit better than I’m on anyway.

The Specialized is in budget and the Sabbath is a bit out of budget with me having a baby due in November (but my big 30 is November too, and I know my family have offered a little to help towards a new bike as a gift).

What should I choose, should I consider the Allez, should I keep looking for something with my 100-200 budget (as my starter) or should I go for the Sabbath September knowing it has been very well looked after.

The image is of the Specialized. I haven’t got one of the Sabbath.

  1. I can’t edit on mobile for some treason. My cycling plan is to try and do between 50-100 miles per week as a fitness goal and to out improve in general. And I’m also cycling to work which is 3.1miles each way.

  2. If you can stretch for the Sabbath, it’s a really nice older high end bike that was about 2 grand new. You’ll get plenty of life out of it before thinking about upgrading, if you even do because it’s a great bike.

The Allez is a budget beginner bike
