1988 Stumpjumper Team!
I love this bike. More of a road+ build, it is so much fun to ride.
Quick rundown:
-21” frame (he’ll yeah brother)
-Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed Ergopower shifters with replacement pink hoods
-Shimano 8 speed 11-32 cassette
-Deore XT front and rear derailleurs
-Velo Orange Grand Cru 50.4 46 30t crankset 165mm
-Velocity Atlas rims laced to Deore hubs
-Deore XT brakes
-Nitto Noodle bars
-Nitto Technomic stem
-Nitto Jaguar Seatpost
-Ultradynamico Cava 26” 2.1 Race Grey
-Salsa saddle (in matching grey)
-MKS Allways pedals when I’m not in hardo mode (not pictured here)
-A single Paul Moon Unit 😘
Campy 10 to Shimano 8 indexes nicely.
Fork is not original to the frame, but is a close enough match. Not sure the story on that. I’ve seen other late 80’s Team Stumpjumpers missing their forks too, if anyone knows more about that, I’m curious!
I’d argue these frames are harder to come by than the Rock Combos. I was very happy to find this and build it into a dream bike!

I have the same frame!
Love it!
How’d you get the hoods that color?
Gorgeous bike.
I bought an ‘89 Rockhopper Comp off the showroom floor. I really really wanted a Stumpy but $1000 was a lot of money then. Still is for that matter. I paid $795 for my RH Comp and bought a RH for my wife. I think it was $595. Wife is long gone and the last time I saw her bike it was in her sister’s shed with the port side crank missing. Like, how do you lose a whole crank? Anyway . . .
My best friend’s brother owned the shop and he let me putt a Stumpy and a Stumpy Comp around the parking lot. When I pointed to the Team bike they had on the floor he laughed and said “Buy it and you can ride it. My wife won’t let me ride it.”
That was a $2000 bike in 1989 dollars.
I still have my Comp. Lots of bikes have come and gone, and a few have stayed but that thing has a bazillion hard miles on it and has never, not once, failed me in any way. Still rides and shifts and stops like the day it was born. Still quick like the bunny. I true the wheels and service the hubs about every 10 years. Probably time to check them.
Nice bike. Enjoy the ride.
Nicely done 👍 I have Campy 10 on my road bikes
