Before I start I do have a bike fit set up but it isn’t until the end of the month and I cannot ride this at all the way it currently is.

So I just got my first road bike, I got it assembled at my lbs and I absolutely hate it. My hands go completely numb to the point where I don’t feel comfortable riding at all, my saddle is not pointed down or level, it’s slightly up. My lbs is in a small town and I don’t think they assemble many road bikes so I’m wondering if the hoods are setup incorrectly.

First the pinky’s go numb, then the ring, then the middle finger then the palm of my hand, it didn’t effect my thumb or pointer finger. I rode only 15 miles two days ago and my hands still feel weird. I have been riding mountain bikes for long rides and use a peloton indoors and finally sprung on a road bike but I can’t even use it. Any help would be appreciated. I will have about a week to decide to return after the bike fitting apt. I used to love riding and now I feel defeated.

I tried to measure the angle with an iPhone and I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong but YouTube says 10-20 degrees and the way I’m measuring it is absurd at over 45 degrees.

  1. Do you ride with gloves on? I used to get horrible numbness, then I simply used gloves (bontrager makes some that work well for me) and numbness went away.
