This was rattling around in my room after I hit a pretty bad pothole and rolled a few feet on my bare rims, rims look fine minus a few slight dents surprisingly but this mangled piece of metal fell out. Any ideas what it could be from or if I should be concerned about it?

I’ve had rims that weren’t properly deburred… could be that?

Unlikely an issue but check confirm spokes are tight.
Is that someone’s gold filling? That would be good luck…for you.
It’s hard to get a decent look at it. My first thought was that it’s the first few threads of a Presta valve that cracked off and got flattened. Maybe a *slightly* better pic would help the cause.
A nipple could have cracked and part of the end broke off.
