When I put the hub into the dropout the non drive side fits pretty smoothly but when I try to put the drive side I have to force it pretty badly to fit it but when I don't the hub gets stuck in the middle of the dropout. When I flip around then the drive side of the hubs fits pretty well the non drive side dropout but the non drive side of the hub does not fit well the drive side of the dropout. Hub is designed to fit 10x130mm frame dropout. My previous hub was cup and cone one and it measured around 9×130. Should I be able to fit that rear hub into the dropout or are there two different rear dropout standards that I'm unaware of.

  1. Sometimes with a mech hanger like that a slight misalignment can cause the hub to stick it is on the larger side of the tolerance. Try loosening those two screws so it can pivot slightly and see if the hub drops in.

Your frame may have been dropped at some time and slightly closed the gap in the dropout. We used to get forks on brand new bikes that we couldn’t fit front wheels in. The couriers were dropping the boxes off the back of the van.

  3. Does it go in with the hanger removed? If so, your hanger got pinched slightly. File or carefully bend it back.
