  1. I’ve been dreaming of finding a modern mixte frame for a disc gravel build. They just make so much more sense in my everyday life compared to a traditional frame. The MarinLarkspur comes super close. I wish it were aluminum but I might be getting one. Or a Trek Verve. Anyone have other models I should check out?

I’d love a mixte but can never find one big enough. This one looks pretty tall though? Any idea what the seatbelt length is?

  3. Yes, and extra love for people who aren’t saying mixte when they actually have a step-through

  4. My wife has a Basso Mixte from the 70s/80s. Rumor is that they had left over tubes and braised a few frames.

We will never get rid of that bike.

I built one up for my wife. The thing is crazy sizes, difficult to get parts for. Old brake drop, weird seat post size, wheels, bb had grown into the frame.

I’d love to get a Mercian one.

My other half has a Larkspur and it’s amazing – 650b with chunky tyres, a dropper seatpost, and hill-friendly dinner plate cassette. It’ll do pretty much everything (except go roadie fast obviously) and if I wanted one bike and to bin all the rest, it would be one of those I think.

I think they look so cool. My gf has one in the garage and I want to turn it into a gravel machine for her. But also I don’t want to touch it because it’s a beautiful Peugout from the 50s or 60s

I sold a Raleigh mixtie to a young lady that loved the retro look. Got rid of drop bars. I liked it, too small for me.

  9. I’ve got my eye on a very nice fillet brazed step through frame, 120mm spacing, 27” wheels. Been dithering for a while over it, it’s cheap but I’m not sure how it would look built up, and if I’d definitely ride it as much as it deserves!

One wacky idea was to get another tube brazed in and ride it as a lightweight hunqapillar clone.

    Mixtes are awesome city bikes.

Sometimes people get a bit loose with the nomenclature and call bikes Mixtes that actually aren’t, the cool thing about them is they in the past retained road bike geometry and lightness, with the step-over design.

If you have 27″ wheels on your mixte, you can put on a set of 27″ knobby tyres for an awesome-looking bike, just like that.
