While removing a spacer on my Grizl, I overtightened the top cap screw and it snapped. đź«
When it broke, the wedge came out with it.
My questions are:
How much does this already compromise cockpit safety?
Is it okay to roll a short distance (to the repair shop), or is this strictly a “don’t ride until fixed” situation?
Thanks in advance! 🥲

Do not ride anymore, unless you want new teeth.
Meh, it does compression for your headset, I’d argue that if the pinch bolts are torqued, you can do some light riding till it’s fixed. I certainly would. You can get a top cap from Amazon/LBS fairly easy. Those plastic Acros headsets are f-king shit.
How far until the LBS?
What I always do is lean heavily on the handle bars, pull them sideways. If that doesn’t give me a bad impression, I’ll bike to the LBS at a moderate and comfortable pace. Gets me there safely for the past 20 years or so on all sorts of bikes with all sorts of problems.
Don’t.
