On the second little step/drop thing, you can hear a loud bang when I land. I'm pretty sure it is the sound of the cassette engaging.
It's the same sound that you get when changing gears and the chain catches and the cassette suddenly engages.
I couldn't figure out why this would happen, because I'm obviously not pedaling through this section.
Thinking about it, I started wondering if the suspension going through it's travel was maybe pulling the chain taut and essentially engaging the cassette for a split second? Which I think is essentially pedal kickback? Is there any other reason that I would hear the cassette engage?
It doesn't happen consistently, and it doesn't seem to be related to the size of the feature, but I hear this sound maybe once or twice per ride, and only when going through sections that use the suspension.
Any thoughts?

It doesn’t seem like anything unusual. It just sounds like the normal sounds a bike makes when you’re riding bumpy stuff.
It’s also normal for suspension action to affect the chain length a bit. It’s not something you can avoid. It’s the inevitable result of having suspension in the first place.
I head what you are hearing and I have the same noise happen on my gravel bike. See if you can replicate the sound doing the following:
1)put bike in stand
2)be in smallest cog
3)pedal it quickly
4)abruptly stop pedaling and hold cranks in place
If you hear the same noise you will likely see the issue. In my case the cassette is slamming backwards due to the clutch pulling the chain back. So not true pedal kickback but the chain being pulled back by the clutch after the clutch is moved due to the drop.
