The drop looks good, but you didn’t land on your feet, you landed on the saddle. If you have a dropper post, drop it so your knees can bend upon landing.

  2. Your position is off. Doesn’t look like attack position to me. Doesn’t look like you are centered and have weight on pedals. Upper torso should be lower (elbows not bend enough). I’d suggest you watch some videos on drop technique and nail some smaller drops before you attempt a larger drop like this.

  3. Looks like your seat is up? Impossible to get into a nice athletic stance when the seat is up

    Edit: Maybe it’s down

Having youre arms stretched all the way for me its having my arms bend to take som og the hit it helps for me

  5. I’d say foot placement. When I want more stability on my pedals, I don’t stay on my toes, I move my feet so the pedals are basically locked into my arches

  6. You dont need to bunny hop of the edge just bring your weight back and drop your heals a bit relaxed and fluid. Also get some prope shoes and pedals

  7. Slowdown the video and look at what happens to your ankles when you land.

This happened because your feet are too far forward on the pedals and you landed with your toes pointing down. When you landed all your weight went to your heels and you couldn’t support the impact – made worse by the extra rotational force from your toes being down.

If your feet were further forward you would get the backwards rotation as bad on drops. If your heels were down the. Your ankles would be supporting your weight better and your legs could compress to absorb the drop.

Your knees were quite bent before you landed too, work on keeping your legs straight with only a light bend so you have more to absorb the impact.

Even with better shoes and pedals this would have been a rough landing.

Not far enough forward and ur legs aren’t straight enough, you couldn’t ‘catch’ the ground. You just kinda fell on it lol.

  9. I recently took my first course on jumping and dropping and I think I should be able to do this drop. So I’m learning this stuff too. But here is what helped me.

In the air try to brace yourself between handlebars and pedals, like when you try to scoop the back wheel. With arms push against the handlebars. With legs heel up and push against slightly rotated pedal. That should help with feet slipping pedals in the air.

Then you did hop at the drop exit. This effectively increased the drop height. But your legs where not prepared for the landing (half bent before impact). Try to jump from this drop without bike, just on your legs. Extend the legs before landing. Do it like you mean it.

Alternatively, instead just push your bike like 20 cm forward when the front wheel is about to leave the drop. This then requires about the same speed. Stay lower on the bike while doing this and the drop will become smaller by that amount (think about position of center of mass).

This drop has a flat landing. This is more harsh than landing on a slope.

Anyhow, you survived! Now experiment and find what works.

    Everyone Enjoys Kinky Hotel Weekends

    Eyes up
    Elbows out
    Knees bent
    Heels down
    Weight evenly distributed

Your mistake was the heels down part

  11. Better pedals, better shoes, foot placement was too far forward on the pedal it seems, make sure you aim to land on your feet and catch your weight with your legs. Drop the saddles if you can

you look like you’re scared of your bike. not comfortable at all. definitly work on your confidence

You french fried when you should have pizza’d. If you french fry when you should pizza, you’re gonna have a bad time!

    Not even trying? 😂
I’m sorry, but that’s what it looked like you went limp loose as soon as you went off the ramp

Don’t bunnyhop off the drop. Doing that caused your back wheel to land first and destabilized you. Keep your weight over the center of the bike and as the front wheel reaches the edge of the drop, shift your weight back slightly and extend your arms, almost as if you’re pushing the handlebars over the edge. Assuming you are carrying enough speed, this will cause the bike to have a more level trajectory over the drop, and ideally you’ll land with both wheels on the ground at the same time. It will feel sketchy because you’ll be pointed more downward as the bike follows a natural path, but as long as you keep your weight back and absorb the landing with your knees and elbows you’ll roll right out of it.

  16. It bugs me how many people are suggesting buying better gear rather than critiquing technique. Looks to me you were leaning to the right, your center of gravity went straight down and levered your foot right off the pedal. I would try to keep the bike straight before the drop.

  17. Looks like your center of gravity isn’t directly over the bike – you seem to be leaning slightly to the right on take-off.

  18. It’s kind of tough to say from this video.

Watching frame by frame you can see your right foot goes heel down for two frames on impact and then shoots toe down as your foot comes off the pedal. Any chance your right pedal and then foot hit the ground? Is there a slope to the ground where you landed ?

Maybe go try again and try and have someone film down at the landing. Maybe your foot just slid off the back of the pedal but the way your foot shoots heal down on landing and then snaps to toe down seems like it is pivoting on the pedal right before your foot comes off. Could possibly be a strength thing I suppose but tough to say.

  19. Your knees should be springs – shock absorbers – if you’re basically sitting then can’t absorb any more force – same if you’re standing with knees locked out. Attack position – as someone already mentioned – is important on the landing

  20. Looks like your shoes/pedals/both are not good. The food should never slip off the pedal like that, especially when force is being created between the two

Keep your feet farther back on the pedals. From what I see your toes are almost off the pedals and your arms are fully extended if you don’t have a rear shock you need to take the impact with your body so you don’t have a major impact (like in the video) that forces you to the ground

You rode flat, gotta get the front wheel up and contact with the rear wheel first, also looks like you’re sitting?
