2021 Contend 3 (2×8, Sora) $700
2017 Via Nirone 7 (2×9 Sora) $500
2012 Felt AR 4 (2×10 Ultegra) $400
Looking for an entry-level road bike for my Dad (64, Good Physical Health). I say "for" him but it's 50/50 so I have a bike to ride when I come back to visit. He's not going to be banging out centuries anytime soon but will be spinning around the block with my mom (5-30 miles).
Leaning towards the contend as despite it being a 2021 it looks basically new (no?). I think I'll have to do less maintenance for him (I'm only back every 6 months or so).
The Nirone I'm unsure about, sits between the two, has unremarkable reviews but looks like it'll be fine for his needs.
Would there be a lower price you'd take the AR4 over the Contend? Ultegra, but 2012 Ultegra… Does anyone have experience with these Felts? From what I read online seems like Felt's first "aero" bike

For casual trips, riding position would be my first concern. You want to be relaxed, comfortable and you don’t want to be worrying about getting into that position as you get older. The Contend is along the right lines, but it’s $900 new, you would think over the past four years an entry level bike has probably depreciated more than that. For $700, I have to point out that this Kona Rove is an option;

I’d take the felt every time
