[Applause] Good morning everybody. Good morning and welcome welcome to a fantastic day. Look at this. Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous. I think it’s going to be get to about 20° today. Slight breeze. Not bad. Just a little bit of a breeze from the from the south, but it’s a cracking day and of course got to be out on the road bike. Got to be got to be when it’s a day like today. So I’m out in the uh the canyon here and um I’m not sure how far I’m going. I’m guessing, sorry folks, lots of cars here. I’m guessing uh it’s going to be around about the 50 mi mark there abouts. I think I nearly went on the motor bike actually um on the lines, but um I mean that’ll be busy as well on the lines obviously with dog walkers and stuff, but also um I only ever use the road bike as I’ve said before in good weather. So got I thought I’ve got to use the road bike today. Got to lovely smooth road. Look at this. It’s obviously been redone. Last time I came around here, it was really gnarly, really rough and really bad. And I’ve already resurfaced it all. So fantastic. Fantastic. I don’t use this route very often down here. I use this to avoid a nasty junction over that way. It’s really horrible junction. It’s a junction that leads on the hill, but it’s a busy junction. So I come down the back here. And normally it’s a bit dodgy finding puddles, but it’s much better now. Much better. I mentioned before, but anybody’s new to the channel, that’s my old school skill that your old secondary skill. Yeah, it was a bit rough school like, but had some good fun there as well. Yeah, I can remember there one day somebody said fight at the gym and it was during school time. We’re all in having our our dinners in the canteen and uh the fire alarms went off and the gym was on fire blowing flames out the top of the smoke. And we uh obviously had to evacuate and stuff, but my friend I was with had his dinner, picked up his dinner and took it with him, jumped out the window. It was just a ground floor window, but he jumped out the window with his dinner. Crazy times. Crazy times. I’m a 5minute rest. Tell you what, it’s warm, mate. It’s very warm. Little bit of a breeze bloom, but it’s still warm. Not complain. Not complaining. It’s very, very nice. I tell you what, as well, no very little bugs today as well. Last one went out. I don’t know if which way you’ll see the videos. I don’t know if you’ve seen that video yet, but I was on the mountain bike on the tracks. And there was millions of green flies. Millions of them. Couldn’t believe how many green flies there was. Were in your mouth, eyes everywhere. It’s terrible. I had glasses on, but there was still like getting down behind me. Glasses, everything. I’ve never seen so many green flies. It was nuts. Crazy. But today, it’s just a few flies around and things. Couple of green flies, but nothing like like that that day, I tell you. Was horrendous. Horrendous. I’m going to have 5 minutes rest and then I’m going to head up this road here. But quite often when I go up this road, I tend to turn left at the top where that say that phone mass in the distance is there. A left turn. I quite often go that way. But today I’m going to go straight ahead down the hill and a bit of a different route. It’s not a brand new route. I’ve done it before. Last year I think I went around that way, but I haven’t done it this year yet. And so yeah, bit of a mashup today. Bit of a mashup of roots, but it’s good. It’s good. Bit of a breeze. probably hear on the mic on the camera and you probably see in the grass here. Bit of a bit of a breeze going on. It’s not a cold breeze. It’s just a bit of a cooling breeze. It’s quite nice actually. It’s quite nice. As long as it hits in the face then it won’t be so nice then. I shouldn’t have said anything. It’s getting windy now. But uh yeah, cool down a bit here. But hopefully I don’t have any headwinds. That’ll be good. That’ll be good. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] [Music] hey, hey. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Someone’s climb another hilly as you can see. Just leaning at the top there. Tell you what, I think there must be a road right under here somewhere. But loads of bikes go past opposite direction. Let’s see. Some kind of ride on or something. There’s loads more bikes on the road than than I would normally see. Interesting. There’s not actually that many rides around here. As you know, I used to do the DM Dynamo. That was good. That finished a long time ago. So, I’m at the top. Quite a climb. Actually that hill back there’s got like a full summit. You think oh I’m at the top and you’re not I am now though thankfully and head back down the other side. This is a nice road. A good uh good route up here. It’s normally quite quiet normally. It’s been a few cars gone past already but normally it’s quiet. It’s a nice little steady climb. Not steep. Just a five, six%. Something like that. That’s good. It’s good. It’s one of those hills you can just get in a rhythm and pull along and enjoy it. I’d like to thank today’s sponsor, Cadence, the cycling app that can replace an expensive cycle computer. Available for Android and Apple devices. Cadence is your go-to app for tracking runs, rides, and indoor workouts and gives you over 100 stats. Cadence uses GPS, barometer, pedometer, Apple Watch, and Bluetooth sensors to map and track your activities, which you can customize however you like. It’s got built-in turnbyturn navigation, and you can easily import routes or create your own. You can even share your live location or compete on Straa segments right in the app. It’s all private, all powerful, and it’s all in your pocket. So, I’m just coming into this hill now. Just up here, head here. go this corner and that’s it for that hill. I said before said before it’s not a steep hill but it’s just like quite a long one. It’s about 5% but it’s a fair few miles long. It still weighs you down. Must like it though. It’s a good hill. Good hill. As before it’s one of those hills you just get in the rhythm and off you go. Good stuff. Good stuff. But I’m hot though. Got a sweat on, guys. Got a sweat on. That’s a long time since I’ve been down this road. This road here. I’ve been down before ages ago. But then they um then they graveled it. Um you know this horrible gravel stuff which is you can see it’s here. You can see on the side all the gravel and they made it really really rubbish to ride on. start to go down another road back there, but I thought it’s been quite a while. Might have flen down a bit. It has. I think the tractors and stuff coming up and down’s flattened it off a bit. It’s still rough as you can probably hear in the background. As you can see on my bike, handlebars here. Still very, very rough, but uh it’s better than it was before. You can see it’s got a little bit of a tracky this side where where the I suspect the farm machinery and stuff is flattened cuz I think that’s what mostly uses this road. I mean on the roads these days it’s not even potholes. It’s quite often just the general rubbish surface that they have this gravel stuff that they put down. Throw a bit of tie down throw a bit of gravel down then it comes back off again and it’s like horrible roots down the middle of the road. Horrible. Cheap and nasty. I’m looking at a wing. I’m looking at winge. But yeah, so I haven’t been down this road for a while, but I’m coming back back out today. And it’s all right. It’s all right. At least I want to know I can use it again. Just cut cuts out a much busier road back there. So that’s good. That’s all good. If I can keep away from the busy roads, I will. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] [Music] So, I’m coming across the fells now and at least I’ve got the wind coming from the side. Look, you see the turbines lined up there. So, the wind’s coming from the right hand side, which is good. Which is good. Well, it’s not good. Could be better if it was behind us, but you know what I mean. It’s not bad. It’s not bad. Put it that way. Not bad. Moment moment. I’ve done 30 miles. Feel all right. Been quite a few hills. Just like smallish hill. Well, some have been quite big, but um some are small, but they all don’t. But uh yeah, it’s not too bad. I mean, it’s busy the traffic, but it’s not too mental so far. So, so far so good. Well, I know what to say about the best late plans, don’t you? I have plans to go quite a bit further actually, but I’m running out of time. K is at work tonight, so as always on a Saturday, I’m always running late. I just set off too late. Thought I had plenty of time and obviously it didn’t. So, I’m not back home yet. I’ve got a little bit to go yet, but I’m going to head back now along the valley. I was going to go, let’s say, do another maybe another 20 mi, something like that. Instead, I’m doing about another eight or nine, something like that. So, it’s all good though. It’s all good. So I’ve done just over 43 miles there and probably about 44 when you get back there about maybe should convert to kilometers make it look better. Of course it’s not about how far you go. Tell how much you enjoy it isn’t it? And getting home safe as well of course and I really enjoyed it today. It’s been good. Been good. Decent weather. Bit of a breeze as you can probably hear at the moment, but hasn’t been too bad. Mostly at the side of us. Been really nice from a good day out. And yeah, I did less than I wanted to, but been having less quality miles and more rubbishy miles. Not that we’re being rubbishy, but I think K thought it was rubbishy when I’m getting back late. Yeah, it should be happy. And I’m always back late for her. Bless her. He’s so tolerant as Katy on a Saturday. I’m always late when she’s when she has to go to work and stuff. So, but yeah, it’s been good. And as always, thank you very much for joining us and uh I’ll see you all soon. Take care out there, folks. See you later. Bye-bye.
