I’m building a bike for my girlfriend and found this beautiful one on fb marketplace. It already had almost everything I wanted to add, plus more. It came with comfortable handlebars and nice grips, upgraded friction shifters that matched perfectly, and a pizza rack with an Origin8 basket zip-tied to it. It also has a State Bicycle seat post and stem cap.
It’s rolling on fat Maxxis brownwall tires, making the ride super comfortable and smooth. I love seeing her cruise around the city on it. She was having trouble with the 3×8 gearing, so I took it to a local co-op and converted it to single speed. We even found a Surly chain tensioner there to help build her confidence and maybe get her to try 1×8 later.
All of this for only $150. The guy who built it before clearly had great taste and blessed us with a solid bike. I plan to get her a more comfortable saddle in the future, maybe a Brooks. I’ll take better pictures soon, so expect more.
