This route was an adaptation of the route Gol to Vinstra posted on cyclenorway.com (as well as other cycle route sites.) We did it in reverse, because three of us have done parts of the route before and figured the reverse direction would be better (starting with the biggest climbs and ending with a longer but less hilly day.) This is the famous (at least in Norway) Mjølkevegen (The old milk route), taking us from Gudbrandsdalen to Hallingdalen — two of the most famous and picturesque traditional valley districts in central Norway. We were quite lucky with the weather and overall conditions, and only had one flat the whole trip. We stayed in cabins along the route, but you can of course also camp in tents, if you are so inclined. This trip is some of the most fun I’ve had on a bike, and even though I’ve seen most of the terrain and sights before, it never gets old. I’ve added a bunch of photos in order to showcase the diverse terrain and conditions. If you have any questions about gear or something else, feel free to ask.

  1. Very nice! Also considered doing it in reverse. Did you guys camp or stay at some of the lodges? Beito? Since my family got a cabin at Golsfjellet.
