On my summer holiday in Samos, Greece in July 2025. I hired a simple hybrid bike for the cost of 14 euros for one day and rode from Kokkari, where I was staying to the beautiful mountain village of Manolates.
Since 2017 the “Cyclepaths” have raised thousands of euros through our European cycling adventures by setting up fundraisers for the individual events. I (Lee), in particular support the Sirius Dog Sanctuary here in Limassol, Cyprus. Unfortunately there is a big animal neglect problem here and I support anyone who fights this ongoing battle.
We always pay 100% of the costs for these trips and every single cent raised always goes 100% to the charities.

AS BEAUTIFUL AS CYPRUS IS, THERE IS A SERIOUS ANIMAL NEGLECT PROBLEM HERE.
MANY PEOPLE, MAINLY VOLUNTEERS TRY TO HELP WITH VERY LITTLE HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT.
EVERY SMALL BRICK CAN MAKE A PYRAMID.
RESPECT ANIMALS!
[Music] Good morning. Today I’m on the Greek island of Samos in a place called Kakari and I’m going to cycle to a mountain village called Manores. It’s just a 13 km trip which goes along the north coast. It’s 10 km flat and then there’s a uh about 3 km climb of 373 m [Music] Heat. [Music] just about 2 km in now. Uh this is Paradise Beach and there’s one there next door, Samadu, where you get the nudists. I’m just continuing along this coast. Just a little bit up and down. Uh say another 8 km and then we go inland and the the climb starts. small village of Anlakia. Myction [Music] feels like a fiction. I take your Hello. [Music] [Music] My obction it feels like a fiction by 7ks now. Shortly I’ll be turning left and I think it’s somewhere up there. So, it’s only a small ride, but the uh the second part of getting there is going to be quite a climb. Beautiful scenery. A little bit hot, but compared to where I live in Cypress, this uh at the moment there’s a nice cool breeze and the island’s a lot more green. Actually, it’s a very beautiful island. [Music] And here it is. Manolatus, 4 km to the left. And I believe that’s where the climb starts. The good thing about that left turn is instantly put me into like a forest which is just much more fresh and cool. Hello Looks like some kind of restaurant. Uh, traditional Greek food. It’s getting steeper now, but it’s really stunning here. Just at the side of me here, there’s a little fresh water stream. I’ve been told by many of the locals that the island gets lots of rain and there’s always a flow of water. There’s no shortage of water here. Basically, it’s selfsufficient. See how steep it actually is. The road going up there. Uh, as I said, the good thing is I’m shaded by these trees. Oh, and there’s the stream again. just windy climbing, hence me being out of breath. I just stop for a minute. It’s not often I stop when I’m cycling, but look at this. And I have been here for nearly a week just drinking gallons of beer. And this is my first bike ride. So, just a little bit about the bike. I hired this yesterday for €15. It’s got uh two small chain rings and a big eightspeed cassette on the back, which it’s um it’s it’s literally it is getting me up these hills. It’s a good uh setup. Uh it’s got the forks on the suspension forks on the front disc brakes. Uh and just about the distance. Uh Straa says I’m now on 11 km. So it’s probably just another 2 km 2 or 3 km of climbing. Now this is tap water. It’s safe to drink. It’s actually quite nice water. I’m getting higher and it’s getting even cooler which is good. Some water fountain here. Not sure if it’s drinking water. I don’t know. Oh my god, guys. It looks nearly vertical, man. Just winds and winds and winds up. I could see the sign down there and I just saw Manolatus 4. I thought it’s another 4 km, but it’s looking like it’s just 400 m to go. So, nearly there. Again, you can see the steepness of this climb. Uh, and God knows what’s around that corner, but there’s sunlight now. Yep, you’ve guessed it. More climbing. It’s 12 km now. I must be pretty close. The view here is spectacular. Just got to go up that road. And according to the Straa app. Uh yeah, it’s just some more windy bits here. And it looks like I’m there in Manolatis. I’m starting to see houses now. So, I’m thinking this could be it. This is it. Manolatis. Let him out inside the village. I’m still going up [Music] my It feels like a fiction. [Music] I won’t take [Music] by your [Music] it feels like a fiction by your addiction. It feels like a fiction onction. Heat. Heat. [Music] That was pretty much the village of Manu Lattis. Uh it’s just a Thursday morning. It’s 10:00. There’s not much going on there, but it is a nice little local village. Uh, I think you get some the odd tourists here as well. I’ve just seen a couple of tourists. But now the good thing is that uh what goes up must come down. So I’m going to make my way back down there and it’s just a 13k ride back to where I’m staying in Kakari. So I’ve got no brackets to put this camera on my body at the moment. So I’ll see you at the bottom. That was a fantastic downhill through that forest. I just uh I just saw a beach at the bottom here. So, it was worth a look. And now just back on the main road and it’s just 10 km back to the apartment. Thanks for watching everybody. If you do like this video and many others like this, just like and subscribe to the channel. It’s free. Uh we also support animal charities in Cyprus and when we can we raise cash and awareness uh for these amazing people that look after the dogs in particular. Thanks for watching again. Cheers. Bye. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music]
