Can we ban the word “mushroom” here…?
The only place I ever hear or see this is on this sub from new cyclists who feel self conscious about wearing a helmet.
Literally no one notices or cares. Helmets are bigger than your head, all of them. Marginally different shapes.
No one, and I mean no one cares or thinks you have a “mushroom”.

It’s too small. It should sit much closer to your eyebrows (about a thumb’s width). Similarly it should be much closer to your ears.
The best way that I can describe it is that it looks like the helmet is on your head rather than your head being in the helmet. From the look if it there is little or no contact between the helmet and the top of your head.
Don’t worry about what it looks like and focus on how it fits. No one worth caring about is mocking cyclists for how their helmet looks.

This helmet is known to sit a little higher above the ears with the cutout. So I wouldn’t think too much on that side, but it does look slightly small.
If you fit a medium (are on the upper end) and don’t want to go to a large, but have a tough time in medium for specialized, giro, and POC…. Try out mediums for Kask, Met, and Lazer.
This is what happened for me as I know if you are in between a medium/large to size down to a medium, you need to find the brands that fit best tho.

That does NOT look mushroomy on you. It does look a small, as it’s high in the front of your head and on the sides. is it pinching on the sides of the top of your head at all?
